99 on the Button
Background:
I had been position raising quite a bit, and the table was growing a bit testy. BB in this hand only had been here a few orbits, but had played back at me once. Villian (BB) has me well covered with about 30k. I have 20k. Blinds are 400/800. Folded to me on the button with black 9's. I think I made mistake #1 here. I limped from the button. I dont know why. I cannot explain it. BB makes it 2400 to go, and I call. (Mistake #2?) Flop is 553r. BB bets out 8k. Hero..... |

Re: 99 on the Button
you know this i guess, but this is the perfect time to open-raise and let him play back. as for what to do when he raises your limp, i dunno... i am never in that spot. i guess push.
on the flop, you've only got 17.6k left. your hand is too good to fold, but you really don't want to give a free card, so i'd push. |

Re: 99 on the Button
Hero pushes.
Hero is way ahead of villain's range here. Villain most likely has a naked ace which he assumes is the best hand. If you play the 99 this way this is exactly the situation you want to have. |

Re: 99 on the Button
i push. could get called my mid pairs lower than 9s.
if called by higher pair, tough beat. you probably wouldve gotten ur money in preflop by playing back to his play back, but u can be pretty sure uve got the best hand here |
