Default Watching SH 30/60...

I am seeing these guys check the flop when they dont have position, even after raising PF (or 3-betting from blinds). I literally never do this, can someone explain the merits of doing this to me? Can I apply this at 5/10 SH?

I'm also seeing A-high bet a paired flop, and check call the turn. Is this a good technique? Against who?

Thanks

Heh, don't try and learn from the bad players. Here is hand from 20 mins ago:

Party Poker 30/60 Hold'em (5 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is Button with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
1 fold, Hero raises, SB 3-bets, 1 fold, Hero calls.

Flop: (7 SB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks.

Turn: (3.50 BB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB bets, Hero calls.

River: (5.50 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks.

Final Pot: 5.50 BB

Results in white below:
MP doesn't show.
Hero has Ad 7c (high card, ace).
SB has Jd Kd (high card, king).
Outcome: Hero wins 5.50 BB.

I was just about to reply, with what makes you think you are watching the good players or even the winning players...

i havent played much in this game but i have seen some unusally bad play - both extremes - stupidly aggro guys and silly weak/tight guys

i wish they would spread it as 6 max - plenty of short handed tables but i dont like to play once it inevitably fills up beyond 6 or breaks

I agree. The 20/40 game seems to be struggling pretty badly right now. Maybe we could send them e-mails to try and make it shorthand?

blows my mind why they'd make a 20/40 full game but not 6-max. I'll certainly send an e-mail from all 14 accounts supporting 20/40 6-max if we decide to do this

My main concern about the creation of a 6-max 20/40 game is that it'd end up consisting of all of us 2+2'ers just beating the crap out of each other. I have played in one shorthanded 20/40 game on Party, just looked soft to me. Turned out I was right . I think frankly that it might be best to keep it the way it is -- right now we can pick on the poor-SH-playing 20/40 full ring guys .

well I think that's a bit of an overstatment. people like to gamble it up. shorthanded you can play more hands and play more aggressively with them. you'll get a lot of the 15/30-30/60 LAGs if you open a 20/40-6 game, especially if you limit the number of 20 full games, just like they do with 1/2, 5/10, and 10/20

You get the bost of both worlds now.

When the game goes short you beat the weak SH players.

When the game fills up you beat the SH specialists who cant play ring.
