I just went to order HOH II, and the total bill was gonna come to over $50 !!! due to a $27 fee for Shipping and Handling.
At first, I thought this fee would only apply if I was getting particular items from the west coast, but then when I saw that the total bill on my credit card was gonna be over $50.... Fck that! Mason, please correct me if I'm wrong. Otherwise, I'll be paying the 50 cents it costs me in gas money to drive to the nearest book store. Adam |

Adam [/ QUOTE ] If you order here, you are buying from Conjelco, not from Mason or 2+2. I just checked, and the standard shipping charge to me in Minnesota would be about 5 bucks. You didn't say where you live. There are several shipping options, up to Overnight, that can get pretty expensive. Did you have some sort of expedited shipping selected by mistake? |

[/ QUOTE ] I'm from Ontario, Canada. While ordering, it only gave me two shipping options: (1) $27 ... I forget the method, but it was the "standard" option. (2) $9 via US mail... but this was "cautioned" all over the place and said "Use at own risk".... "could take up to 6 wks.... It said it "strongly recommended using the $27 option." I've ordered books from 2+2 before, but have never run into this extraordinary S&H scam. In the past, it's only been like $5 for S&H. Adam |

Slow postal deliveries in Canada, if memory serves, have been a way of life for 20 years. (I recall one incident in my childhood where a letter my dad sent one of his aunts to tell her when we'd visit, a month before our trip, arrived the day after we got there. Admittedly that was around the time of the strikes....)
But $9 is the Global Priority Mail rate, and should normally get a book to any of 50 countries in 3 to 5 days. Any of you who live in places a long way from your supplier, take note of a general principle: Postal Service charges flat rates based on weight and country, UPS Fedex etc charge by weight *and distance*... i.e., UPS is cheaper if you're ordering from a couple states away, more expensive coast to coast, MUCH more expensive if you're in Alaska like I am. |

[/ QUOTE ] I've never had any problems with USPS (US mail), I'd imagine the caution is more for non-Canadian international destinations. USPS is my preferred shipping method and I use it without hesitation (I'm also in Ontario). |
