Top Two on Paint Flop
How do you play 2 pair on a paint board? This situation comes up a bit, and it usually involves me or someone else getting stacked.
CO is maniac preflop (50/21/1.1). Raise size is normal, I give him no credit for a high pocket here, he could have anything though. Post flop he's very weak and passive, with or without a good hand. MP3 is your typical $100NL calling station (24/3/0.6), loves suited connectors, broadway and A-face, rarely raises. Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed) converter MP1 ($105.35) Hero ($120.85) MP3 ($104.3) CO ($96.5) Button ($112.15) SB ($75.4) BB ($40.1) UTG ($86.05) UTG+1 ($89.75) UTG+2 ($54.95) Preflop: Hero is MP2 with K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.5. <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, UTG+2 calls $1, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $3</font>, MP3 calls $3, <font color="#CC3333">CO raises to $8</font>, <font color="#666666">3 folds</font>, UTG+2 folds, Hero calls $5, MP3 calls $5. Re: Top Two on Paint Flop
I think you open with $40 and fold to a large re-raise since they are both playing passively post-flop.

[ QUOTE ]
I think you open with $40 and fold to a large re-raise since they are both playing passively post-flop. [/ QUOTE ] I agree, I think its very likely that one of the two villains has a hand like A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] or A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. The other could have anything from AQ to TT. Its doubtful that either has QT, but its possible. JJ is the most likely set. Either way, if you bet 40 and are raised, its probably one or the other hands that beats you, and you have 4 outs at best (not enough to hang around). If you get coldcalled, its probably the heart draw, or maybe a hand like KQ that called for the pair+straight draw. Lead out a non-heart, non Q/T/J river for another half pot and hope that they aren't slowplaying their monster all the way to the river. |
