Default How big is your bankroll?

Yay, my first poll. Hope I don't screw it up. Only small stakes players are allowed to vote, that means up to 200$NL or 1/2 NL. If you play 3/5 at the Commerce, you cannot vote.

my roll is a little bigger since I also include my "casino roll" as well. Poker and Casino rolls are interchangeable for me.

Okay, question for the 10.000+ voters: how come you're still playing small stakes? You certainly have the bankroll to move up in stakes.

Are the lower levels more fun? Do you consider yourself not good enough to move up? Is your hourly rate better at lower levels? Is it to minimize risk of ruin or variance?

I was always under the impression that people are just passing through small stakes, on their way up to the "real" games...

for me its a buffer against the $200000 bad-beat-in-the-butt that is med school.

also, even 20K is only 40 buyins at a 500 game or 100 at a 200 game, so it might be a little excessive, but still reasonable if you play in the big "little" games.

Edit: But thx for the reply anyway. So far it looks like downswings are the main reason not to move up. Anyone disagree?

hahah, im an idiot.

i think the reason some people like myself are wary about movin up to games like 10/20 and 20/40 is that in real life i'm poor. bluffing $200 at the table is something i've become accustomed to doing, but that's still tons of money to me. I know i will be very broke very soon and so i don't really feel confortable risking a massive amount of money, like say 5K on even the strongest of hands as i would have to be prepared to do in a big commerce game.

tell ya what, when im a rich doc with cash to burn, i'll come sit with 500 in the 50NL games and push preflop till i bust. till then i'll keep using my cheap tricks in the biggest penny-ante games i can find.

I'm at 4 tabling the NL100 6max. I still feel that I have lots to learn and am putting in my time before moving up. Also, (down)swings > 1k would make me puke.

I'm confident that I'm a solid winner at NL 100. I haven't yet put in enough hours to be sure that I am a winner at higher levels. I think it is right to move up when I have the skills and confidence appropriate for trying the next level, not when I have the bankroll I'll need for it after I establish that I am a winner at that level.

By the way, most of my bankroll was not won playing NLHE. I also play limit, SNGs, MTTs, and other poker variants.

This poll is biased. What's wrong with Commerce 3/5?? I'm boycotting!

O.k., I really voted. And I don't play in Commerce 3/5. I'm playing in PS $10 right now lol.

Actually, if higher stakes players vote, the poll will be biased. That's why I asked them not to. I just wanna find out what the average bankroll is for players in the .01/.02 to 1/2 NL games.
