I'm not a big fan of the preflop call. Other than that nice hand.

you need to re-examine 4 handed game if you think calling with A8 is not a good idea.
I'd 3-bet it based on how often the player raises. 4 Handed, A8 is the [censored], |

Admittedly I don't play much 4 handed. My thinking, though, is that if it's folded to me either a call or a raise would be fine, but with the caller before me, and out of position, it seems like it's just asking for trouble. Win a small pot or lose a big one kind of trouble. My guess is that a call here is at best slightly +EV for the best players, but that for everybody else it's a hand that will be very tough to play postflop if there's any action at all.

I'm not saying fold here 100%, but calling (I'd prolly prefer a 3bet) with A8o puts you in tough spots more often than not. |

If the cutoff is bad enough to always raise with any ace and the button is bad enough to call with any ace or suited garbage, then reraising is the correct play. Against average players however its likely the cutoff's raising standards are like A5 on up and the button's calling standards are even higher. I agree that A8o is a good hand 4 handed but not in worst position against a raiser and a caller.
