a vegas single table hand
I know that this was a STT hand, but it was a winner take all, and I like the players in here better than STT so here it is:
1st hand of a $525. Winner gets $5k plus $120. I don't recognize anyone, but I was waiting in line with a few of the players and there were two buddies who were either really fishy or great actors. One of them was the BB in this hand. t2000 to start. blinds 25/25, 30 min levels. I start UTG and pick up AJo. I raise to t75. Folded to button who calls (I find out later that he is pro poker player Dan Hiemiller). SB folds, BB calls. t250 in the pot on the flop. Flop is A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] BB checks, I check, Dan bets t200, BB folds, I call. Turn (t650): 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] I check, he checks behind. River: J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Your action? |

I check it and make a tough decision when I see what he does.

Re: a vegas single table hand
I am checking..I don't see what he is calling with that I beat.
So I treat it as a bluff catcher. I'd be sick if I got raised. |

Re: a vegas single table hand
I can't imagine he'd have AK, AA, or KK checking the turn when it looks like you could be on a draw. I think he could have AQ or AT. I thought about a middle pair and that's possible. He could have just taken a stab on the flop when you checked. It's certainly possible he made a draw - either straight or flush. I presume you do not have the A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
So I think there are two hands you're ahead of that he might call a small bet on the river. There are quite a few hands he'll fold and a few others where you're in trouble. I'd make a blocking bet of around T200. I think you'd like to see a showdown but cheaply. I think if you check he's very likely to make a larger bet on the river but he can only raise with a big hand. |

Re: a vegas single table hand
Dan is very aggressive and early in a satellite he'll play a wide variety of hands, some quality, mostly junk. Against him
I would check and probably call most if not all bets. Bruce |

Re: a vegas single table hand
If I didn't know who Dan was I would play the hand the way
Soss did. I do think Dan is very capable of bluff raising on the river with nothing. I'm not sure how I react, knowing I'm up against Dan, if I'm raised like Soss. Good question. Bruce |

I didn't have the A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
Your post makes me feel better. I did just that. I made a blocking bet of t300 (too big?) and folded after a long think when he thought and made it t1000 (700 more). |

[/ QUOTE ] Well you played it perfectly then Are you going back to Vegas for any more events? I think I'll be there for the July 1 $3K. I then leave from Vegas for an out of the country trip. Playing the battle of the bay this weekend? |
