Difficulty of H/L Stud vs HE
I'm solid winner at 2/4 hold'em and $11 and $16 SNGs. I read Sklansky's Hi/Lo section in Super System last week. Tonight I took my first shot at the tables, starting with the Stars penny-tables, moving up, finishing up at Party 3/6.
A lot of the players are chumps, by Sklansky's definition (e.g. playing kings, playing after catching "paint" on 4th). Playing super-tight 3rd street and pretty aggressive otherwise, it didn't seem too difficult. What's the general opinion of online 2/4 - 5/10 Stud8 vs online 2/4 - 5/10 HE? |

Re: Difficulty of H/L Stud vs HE
First off, the H/L sction of supersystem no longer applies, since stud hi-lo is played '8 or better' for low nowadays, and the paint rule is inapplicable. Kings are a big hand in a good stud/8 game.
the stud games in the micros are a gold mine, since most of the players haven't studied the game. once you get to 3/6, you start to run into players that know how to play, and there's more of them in stud, but, the shark has a bigger advantage over the fish than they do in LHE, so it's a bit of a wash. read Hi/lo split poker (HLSP) by Ray Zee for a modern text on the game. |

Re: Difficulty of H/L Stud vs HE
I am a better Hold'em player than I am Stud8 player and I feel like my advantage playing the same limits of Stud8 is much greater. This is for PS though, not Party.
