J3s--small blind on button
Typical loose weird 6/12 game at my B&M. I'll try to reconstruct as best I can.
Two limpers to me. I complete on the button with J3 spades. SB completes. BB checks. 5 to the flop, which brings 7s 6s 3d. SB checks. BB bets. One caller. I raise. SB 3-bets. BB caps. Folded to me. I call. 3 to the turn, which brings Jh. (7s 6s 3d) SB checks. BB bets. I raise. SB calls all-in. BB 3 bets. I call. River brings K, not a spade. BB bets. I cry, then I call. Anyone do anything differently at any stage of this hand? |

With no reads I play this hand exactly the same.

Re: J3s--small blind on button
When he 3-bets the turn, I decide that, annoyingly, BB probably has 54 or a set.
When my 11-13 outs don't come in on the river, I'd make the crying call too, because my loose-weird opponent could have a worse two pair or a big pocket pair he came to life with on the flop (and if this is the case and the big pair is KK, then that's unfortunate). And I guess once I actually play the 6/12 at your B&M, I'll be more qualified to speak on hands like this one. Anyway, I think the possibly debatable part is the turn. If the flop cap means as much as it often does at the 3/6, then there's a very good chance you're still drawing, despite having improved. On the turn, if Villain needs to have flopped two pair or better to play like this, then you're behind 54 (16 combos), 77 (3 combos), 66 (3 combos), and 33 (1 combo), for a total of 23 combinations. You're beating 76 (9 combos), 73 (6 combos), and 63 (6 combos) for a total of 21 combinations. However, you do have the better of the outs, and I don't think we should narrow Villain's range this much based just on his flop cap and turn bet anyway. So I like the way you played the hand. |

Re: J3s--small blind on button
It wasn't fun investing $75 additional dollars on a hand I would have pitched had I not had $3 in already. But I was determined to "do the right thing" postflop.
