Default GSIH Question: Not short anymore

Ok so... I've tried the whole short-stack strategy and it's freakin awesome. MUCH better than what I used to do. Here's my question though...

Once I've doubled/tripled up, I'm not the short stack anymore. How long should someone trying this strategy wait before leaving the table and starting over somewhere else? Just whenever you want? Or should you have some stack-size goal?

Hi jpg7n16:

Here's my advice. Once you're not comfortable with your stack size, leave. If you leave a little too soon, you'll only theoretically cost yourself pennies, and if you're going to make an error, it's better to error on the conservative side.

Best wishes,
Mason

Hi jpg7n16:

Another way to look at it is that the better you get, the larger the stack that you can safely play with.

Best wishes,
mason

I don't have my book here at work but from memory and my understanding, this strategy is best used for the internet. As soon as you get onto a medium stack you've crippled the short stack strategy and should move onto the next table and buy back in for the min.

If you are on a medium stack, it doesn't fit with the whole Idea of getting all in by the second betting round for a minimal total amount. ( assuming I understand what Ed is saying )

Yeah what I find myself doing with a medium stack is bet enough on the flop that my all-in on the turn will be roughly pot sized.

I usually move on after it's too hard to do that. That's where I'm comfortable right now

P.S. I'm only able to do this online. You can't just get up and find another table B&M usually. Actually I wouldn't know... but you'd probably come across as a jerk in person.

If you are skilled, I think playing a big stack will give you a bigger hourly rate. Plus, I find playing that way extremely boring and not fun. I like seeing flops, chasing like nothing else, and getting paid off huge.

I just said I disliked it, not that I couldn't beat/counter it.
