A.C. Faq Draft
I put together a simple FAQ. Please correct or add to it if you wish to. I will submit this to the moderator to see if we can add it to the top of the page. I left out opinions on purpose, even though I know they are asked about a lot, such as, which casino has the softest 2/4.
Information as of 5/18/05: The following casinos have poker: Taj Mahal, Tropicana, Borgata, Sands, Ballys, Resorts, Harrahs, Showboat (House of Blues poker room opening 2005/2006). The first three are the major rooms in A.C. (House of Blues may become the fourth). Transportation in Atlantic City: The two main ways of getting around A.C. besides walking are jitneys and cabs. Cabs charge a maximum of $8 to go anywhere in Atlantic City. Jitneys are small blue buses that cost $1.50. They run 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All casinos are accessible by a jitney. Only the #2 jitney goes to the Marina District (Borgata, Harrahs, Trump Marina). Jitneys are typically slower than cabs. Jitneys can be picked up on Pacific Avenue, among other places in A.C. Regularly Spread Limit Hold 'Em Games: Taj Mahal: 2-4, 3-6, 5-10, 10-20, 15-30, 20-40, 50-100/75-150 (sometimes) Borgata: 2-4, 3-6, 6-12, 10-20, 20-40, 40-80, 80-160 (40-80 and 80-160 weekends) Trop: 2-4, 4-8, 6-12, 10-20 (sometimes) Regularly Spread No Limit Hold 'Em Games: Borgata: 1-2 ($60/$200), 2-5 ($200/$500), 5-10, 10-25 (sometimes) Taj: 1-2, 2-5 Trop: 1-2, 2-5? Tournaments: Taj Mahal and Tropicana have daily tournaments. Borgata has tournaments Monday - Friday. Other casinos have tournaments as well. See casino Web sites for more details. |

Taj: 10-20 Half and Half (half stud8, half omaha8) - weekends...Higher games sometimes
The game has a half kill to $15-$30. The game now goes from Wedsnesday - Monday. A floor manager I know tells me the game will go every day during the summer. |

Re: A.C. Faq Draft
Isn't the max 1/2 NL buy in $300 at the Borg and others, rather than $200 as you have it? Or am I misremembering?

Re: A.C. Faq Draft
I messed up, it is $300 max (according to someone's Web site I just saw) at the Borgata. I rarely play the game and should have just left it blank.

Re: A.C. Faq Draft
Looks great! Two suggestions:
1. I'm getting very interested in the idea of using a Wiki for all community-edited FAQ type uses. Check it out (Wikipedia is a community-edited encyclopedia, but the technology can be used for any community-edited pages) and see what you think. See also this discussion on the Beginners forum. 2. I wouldn't suggest having a "sticky" thread just about AC, because one could legitimately make the same claim for one for Vegas, LA, B&M in Europe, etc. Instead create a big FAQ for B&M with different top-level headings. AC would obviously be one of them, and that's the only one you'd need to implement at present. But I LOVE the idea of having a page with what's currently spread at what rooms. That's where I think the wiki idea could come in handy and improve upon the a forum thread for this purpose. |
