KQs Turn Decision
.50/$1 Paradise
I have K[img]/forums/images/icons/spade.gif[/img] Q[img]/forums/images/icons/spade.gif[/img] in MP. First 3 fold to me, I open-raise. Two players to my left cold-call, small blind 3-bets it. I call, the other 2 call. Who 4-bets (caps) it here? Flop: 2[img]/forums/images/icons/spade.gif[/img] T[img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img] SB checks, I bet, 1st cold-caller folds, 2nd one calls, SB calls. Turn: T[img]/forums/images/icons/spade.gif[/img] SB now bets out! What now brown cow? |

Re: KQs Turn Decision
I have to say that I wouldn't jump to raise here either, although I would consider it. At this low limit, it is just as likely that he made a clumsy attempt to disguise a big hand. It hardly ever see players at this limit 3 bet the flop and not bet the turn unless they really hit something.

Re: KQs Turn Decision
Raise... you have 11 outs to beat him even if he does have a T.

Re: KQs Turn Decision
When someone in the blind 3 bets then checks a flop with a face card on it, I think their most likely hand is top set. His leading the turn makes that less likely though. I'd put your opponent on AA and just call. I'd also call on the river unless you improve.
Call me a sissy, but I just don't see you being ahead here. |

Re: KQs Turn Decision
Unless SB is a super-tighty, I raise and see what I learn.

educate me
Okay, raise just isn't the option that came to my mind first. Is is that likely that the SB is making a play here, I don't understand what everyone thinks the small blind is doing, or are we just raising because we have so many outs.
Thanks, Bob T. |

Re: educate me
I like the raise because: 1. Hero has a hand. 2. If he's behind a T from the SB (not likely, unless SB 3-bets with a T-something), he has outs. 3. I've already read the results, but if SB has big pair (JJ to AA) we get some info, based on the play from here. |

KQs Turn Decision - results
When the SB bets into me and the pre-flop cold-caller on the turn I just couldn't make sense of it. With the 2nd ten hitting the board it didn't seem like he'd be trying for a 3-bet if he got raised. I didn't know this player very well but I thought 3-betting Ace-ten from the small blind was remote (besides wouldn't he check-raise the turn if that's what he had?) I could only conclude that he did have a pocket pair and just checked the flop in odd way to get information. I kept hearing clarkmeister's voice in my ear "Raise! Raise!" but I couldn't shake my usual weak-tight ways and just called to see what the river brought. The pre-flop cold-caller folded and the river came: 9[img]/forums/images/icons/spade.gif[/img]
Board: 2[img]/forums/images/icons/spade.gif[/img] T[img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img] T[img]/forums/images/icons/spade.gif[/img] 9[img]/forums/images/icons/spade.gif[/img] SB Check-called and turned over: J[img]/forums/images/icons/heart.gif[/img] J[img]/forums/images/icons/diamond.gif[/img] Maybe he wouldn't have called the turn raise. Strange way to play the jacks tho. |
