Sweating a Friend, he makes this fold. Opinions?
Yesterday afternoon in the $55 R/A Table is 5 handed and its bubble time. 10 players left, final 9 get paid.
converter seems to not be working, so I have to do this one manually. >PokerStars Game #1673666395: Tournament #7712336, Hold'em No Limit - Level >XVI (4000/8000) - 2005/05/10 - 19:28:26 (ET) >Table '7712336 7' Seat #1 is the button >Seat 1: willywonk (51956 in chips) >Seat 4: Hero (143550 in chips) >Seat 6: kalkiyali (129220 in chips) >Seat 7: azone45 (100050 in chips) >Seat 8: PSUROCKETS (59224 in chips) >willywonk: posts the ante 400 >Hero: posts the ante 400 >kalkiyali: posts the ante 400 >azone45: posts the ante 400 >PSUROCKETS: posts the ante 400 >Hero: posts small blind 4000 >kalkiyali: posts big blind 8000 >*** HOLE CARDS *** >Dealt to Hero [Ts Th] >azone45: folds >PSUROCKETS: folds >willywonk: folds >Hero: raises 16000 to 24000 >kalkiyali: raises 104820 to 128820 and is all-in >Hero: folds Villian seemed to be playing pretty tight. 5-handed against what may look like a steal from the SB, who puts their life on the line here with TT? Personally I make this call and was annoyed with him that he folded. But I probably would have just pushed preflop and save myself the decision. Thoughts? -Scott |

At first glance, I liked it. The more I think about it, the more I think BB might push any pair in this manner. It's close. Hmm.
Final answer - Unless his image was pretty LAGgy at the time, I don't mind this fold. |

What sucks is that you're on the bubble and the one stack comparable to yours is the one putting you to the test. I know I'd be pushing a bunch of hands in the BB here, with emormous fold equity...but you said villain seemed pretty tight...and he certainly COULD have hero in bad shape. I don't think a fold is far wrong here, but I'd probably call and live with the results here.
I'd be happy just to see 2 overs. |

I like the fold here.
If villain is tight, I think he only pushes JJ, QQ. I think he calls and takes a flop with ALL other pairs, and ALL big drawing hands, a few speculative hands, because he has position, is on the bubble, and doesnt need to get involved with a speculative situation. |

His first raise is fine. He doesn't need to open push here with almost 20 BBs. However, I'm calling here. This is a real monster 5 handed when it's folded to your SB. BB is doing this with a much wider range than JJ-AA for sure. This is a call.

Why call when you're probably coin flip and only one spot away from the cash?
Unless you can put him on 22-99, I'd fold. No sense flipping vs. two overs. |

You're in the BB w/ A9s. It folds to the SB who raises 3BB. Whats your move? Push I would hope. Now change your hand to 99. What do you do? 88? AT? 77? How often do you think SB is on a steal? If he's on a steal, what range of hands do you need to re-steal? That range should be very wide, otherwise you'll get walked over. TT is ahead of all but 4 hands. Its 5-handed. You raised 1st in from the SB. Please, for the love of all things holy, call. |

Its not a matter of "flipping vs two overs." A large % of the time, its a situation where he has a pair under yours, or at least one card <10, if not both. |

Are people even taking into account the fact that you'd probably be among the top 2 in chips at the final table? This will make it a lot easier to run over ppl at the FT, although it appears that all these ppl advocating the fold would be the ones getting run over. |
