We're passing to the left. Standard rules except no points are deducted from the score for the Jack of diamonds, and no point cards can be played on the first trick. Which cards would you pass here? My hand is:
Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] |

I think I remember the game and I pass 9d, Td, Qc.

I suck at hearts, but I'd probably pass the 2 diamonds and one of the big hearts, but the Qc might be a better choice.

I would chuck the A K and J of hearts, otherwise you will collect some
you have enough spades to avoid having to play the Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] and getting that. low number of clubs, you shuold be fine but that hand does sucks Or, get rid of all your low clubs and diamonds and go for broke! |

but that hand does sucks [/ QUOTE ] No hand that has the queen of spades five-deep is a bad hand. Like many others here, I'm passing K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 10 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], and liking my hand. If there's no obvious low man to take aim at, then I'm looking to dump my J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] before letting the Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] fly. I don't think I've ever passed two hearts in my life, unless I was planning a moon-shot. |

[/ QUOTE ] It is 100% safe to pass 2 hearts as long as you keep the ace as a stopper. You can even pass the A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] , and there is still zero chance of getting a moon. |

But giving me a bunch of hearts, after I just got rid of my minor-suit cards (clubs and diamonds), helps more than just about anything you could try.
If I was TRYING to help the person I'm passing to, I'd give him all spades. My second choice would be to give him a bunch of hearts. When passing, your primary objective should be to make your hand better. First, you check to see if you've got spade trouble (in the given hand, you don't). Second, you check your hearts. Not great, but not terrible. You're going to pass the K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]--at that point, you can stop worrying about passing MORE moon-stoppers, and start looking at ridding yourself of bad cards. Voiding yourself of either clubs or diamonds is clearly the choice here, and holding a Q4 is much more palatable than a T9. |

Nothing wrong with passing the two hearts in this case due to shoot-the-moon stoppage power. If you don't you're probably in some deeper trouble due to the hearts. -RMJ |
