Someone posted below that they were making one. Is this for real? I have been racking my brain to think of a possible plotline (boring day of classes) and I couldn't come up with one. Obviously it would be in Vegas.

I don't know about a sequel to Rounders but Brian Koppelman one of the writers of Rounders, along with David Levien, posted to rec.gambling.poker that they had written another movie called Knockaround Guys which I think had some peripherial poker content but was mainly about the mob.

Did it make money? The only people I know who liked it were poker players.......and I doubt there are enough to make the movie enough money to make a sequel.I hope I'm wrong though.

IMDB says it was made for a $12m budget (band did around $23m gross in the US. Add to that overseas gross and video rentals and I guess you could call it a modest success.

i think the budget to pay for the acting of matt damon and edward norton combined would be way over that 12 million entire budget that you mentioned for the first one.

Rusty, I'm just quoting what was listed on the site (the Internet Movie Database - IMDB.COM) which is usually pretty reliable. I was surprised at that number too given the reasonably pretty big names in it - Damon, Norton, Turturro and Malkovich, but sometimes actors take less than they are worth for one of these 'artsy' films.

I read somewhere, some time ago, that someone was producing an independent movie called "The Big Blind".
Does anyone know anything about this movie? |

Apparently it has already been made and was released in 1999. See http://us.imdb.com/Details?0208001 although details there are sketchy.

Don't forget about Stuey, starring Michael Imperioli, which should be out next year.
Not exactly a sequel to Rounders, but it should help bring some more kids to the cardroom. |
