Just cant seem to get my VPIP up
So my VPIP is at an attrociously low 16, and I can't seem to get it up. I feel like I play pretty loose preflop, and don't many hands I can add in. I was thinking that perhaps my low VPIP was attributed to my blind stealing/blind defending numbers. My folded to SB is at 82%, folded BB to steal is 71%, and attempt to steal blind at 29%. Does it seem likely from these numbers that a significant amount of my low VPIP can be attributed to blind stealing/defense?
Thanks, Spicymoose |

Re: Just cant seem to get my VPIP up
Can anyone report what their steal attempt or defend %s are, along with their VPIP?
Thanks, Spicymoose |

Re: Just cant seem to get my VPIP up
After only 11K hands of 3/6:
VPIP: 16.04 Steal: 28.91 Fold BB to steal: 58.99 Fold SB to steal: 84.85 My VPIP dropped about 3% when I went from 2/4 to 3/6 for various reasons. |

Re: Just cant seem to get my VPIP up
This is off 18k hands
VP$IP - 20.56 Fold from SB to steal - 72.26 Fold from BB to steal - 61.43 Attempt to steal - 37.39 Your VP$IP is a bit low, try adding more suited connectors and one-gaps to middle and late positions in loose games (I usually avoid tight games anyway). |

16 is not at all "attrociously low". There are more important things you should be working on.

Re: Just cant seem to get my VPIP up
"attrociously low" may have been an exegeration, in the past couple of days I have heard of many well respected posters who have VPIPs of around 18-22. I am unsure of how they accomplish this, as I don't see too many more hands I can play. I thought that perhaps my number quite a bit lower than theirs (20% lower) because of my blind stealing/defending play, as I have never really worked on this too much.
[ QUOTE ] There are more important things you should be working on. [/ QUOTE ] I guess you could say that in regards to just about anything, but right now I wan't to work on this. |

Re: Just cant seem to get my VPIP up
My numbers for PP 10/20 after 9K+ hands:
VPIP:16.37 Fold SB: 90.53 Fold BB: 55.17 Att. Steal: 21.36 I think your numbers depend on what game you're playing too, I tried to raise my VPIP a while ago and just found that it caused me to lose money. I decided that having a low VPIP is just the style that best suits me, so I'm not planning on changing it unless I start losing, because now i'm comfortable with my win rate. If you're winning at a decent rate and don't feel completely comfortable playing the minutely +EV hands/positions, etc i don't see a need to start playing more hands. |

Re: Just cant seem to get my VPIP up
Try 6-max for a bit. Seriously, it'll help you in blind steal/defense situations.
