Default tens against a microlimit eagle.

just sat down at a new table when this happens. a few moneybags and this eagle sitting at table.

Party Poker 0.5/1 Hold'em (9 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP3 3-bets</font>, <font color="#666666">4 folds</font>, Hero calls.

Flop: (7.50 SB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP3 raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero 3-bets</font>, ...

Final Pot: 6.25 BB

normally i cap pf, but i didnt want to force myself to call further streets vs an agg player.

also, normally to a 3 better on this flop i checkraise, then fold to further aggression. with one overcard on board i figured i would be able to get lower pockets to fold by betting and reraising. of course if he caps i would fold.

thoughts?

Against an eagle, call a cap and check/fold the turn UI.

Also, unless at least two of these guys are immediately to your left with a few fishies on your right, I'm moving tables after this hand.

i would called a cap before...but somebody pointed it out that calling to hit a set doesnt make sense...you simply arent getting odds. if i planned to fold i would just fold to the cap. this might have been what the eagle was thinking...which is why i went with my line.

and yeah, i got up soon after...gt doesnt tell me wtf is going on until a few hands are played.

im guessing the eagle might know me (ive seen him play~ 250 hands)...and he was about 2.5 AF

UI = unimproved
calling and folding UI isnt a good idea in this case either.
if im behind to a larger pair, i think my odds (even with implied) are not really big enough to warrent even a SB to win 15. factor in the times that im drawing dead and this is a fold.

lmk if this is incorrect? thanks

Edit: after doing the math this is a close one. calling isnt as bad as i thought it was getting 15:1 on the flop...calling to try and hit my set will make me about as much money as i lose.

I don't hate the play, but give me a little more information. Do you think the villian has any kind of read on you? Have you seen him show aggression and then fold hands before?

Good point. I don't think it's correct either.

Thanks for the link. I think I am guilty of it sometimes. At least here there's also the purpose of making a better hand, e.g. JJ or QQ, possibly fold.

as far as millers post, i wasnt 3 betting for information. if he had capped i would have tossed my hand to any more bets...if he had a better hand and called...i would have bet out on the turn and lost one more BB if he raised me.

i 3-bet figuring i was beat, but giving him the option to fold.

ill try to work out calcuations now.
