How much does a good poker dealer make?
i've heard everything from minimum wage + some tips to 60k plus to 90k
I dont see someone who deals 1-5 stud or 2/4 making huge tips since pots are already quite small. But higher limits at a buck per pot it could grow quickly. Maybe i should be sitting in the zero seat instead. |

Re: How much does a good poker dealer make?
What is the standard tipping guideline for a 2000/4000 table?
How about a 200/400 table? An 80/160 table? |

What is the standard tipping guideline for a 2000/4000 table? [/ QUOTE ] Generally ZERO. Most pros or big game players do not tip at all. Thats why the dealers at Bellagio could care less if they have to deal that game. I know several of them, all confirm this, so please none of the rumors please. |

Played at the Bellagio during the 2002 WSOP and the dealers said in the 1500/3000 game they had going, each player would take turns tossing the dealer a $25 when they began their down. Which was about $20 more than they made in the "normal" big limit games going. |

Re: How much does a good poker dealer make?
When I started playing (~3 years ago) a dealer at Excal was saying she used to deal the mid and higher level games at Binions several years before and if she never dealt to the "pros" again she'd be thrilled. No tips and very hostile and abusive.
She told a story about a "well known" player at that time who broke the hand of a dealer by smashing his fist on the table in frustration and the dealer's hand happened to be right there. Anyone ever hear that talk and know who the player may have been? |

Re: How much does a good poker dealer make?
If you can deal 40 hands an hour, $1 avg tip per hand = $40/hr + your min wage. Even if you are only dealing 40 mins out of the 60 (they give 20 min breaks I understand) you can still get $25/hr + 6 for wage = 31/hr = $62K/year much of it tax-free.
The top of the line dealers who deal the bigger games, have the more regular customers, etc. Should easily be able to get into the 80-90K range. So 60K up to 90K would be a good estimate. With an effective income (due to tax benefits) of closer to 70K. |
