KJs against a tight agressive player
Ok, I finally took the plunge. Fist hand post here.
CO (main opponent) is a TA / A (over 600 hands). I beleive that he is a solid winning player. The guy on my left calls with anything for any amout before the flop and stays in with any piece after the flop. I don't know BB. My turn call just seem so wrong. I shouldn't have given myself 5 outs, I think. Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (9 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is MP1 with K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. 2 folds, Hero raises, MP2 calls, 1 fold, CO calls, 1 fold, SB calls, BB calls. Flop: (10 SB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (5 players) SB checks, BB bets, Hero raises, MP2 folds, CO 3-bets, SB folds, BB folds, Hero calls. Turn: (8.50 BB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, CO bets, Hero calls. River: (10.50 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, CO bets, Hero folds. Final Pot: 11.50 BB I did feel bad about the turn call, but I did not feel good about the river fold either. (11.5 big bets) |

Re: KJs against a tight agressive player
It’s difficult to put CO on a hand. Maybe 9Td or 33.
I’d fold to the turn raise though. The flop 3-bet is pretty serious when he knows BB and Hero already have a piece of the flop. When faced with the turn bet, it’s going to cost you 2BB to see the showdown, and you’ve only got 2nd pair 2nd kicker. |

After thinking some more, I'd put CO on JQs.

You can fold the turn. [/ QUOTE ] Agreed. [ QUOTE ] After thinking some more, I'd put CO on JQs. [/ QUOTE ] Agreed. But if not I have no trouble putting him on a better hand that Hero's. |

After thinking some more, I'd put CO on JQs. [/ QUOTE ] I wouldn't be so narrow here. He could have AQ or KQ or two diamonds after three betting. When he bets the turn it is unlikely given ur aggression that he has diamonds. Given his likely range of hands (AQ, KQ, QJ), u have 2-3 outs, so u should fold the turn. He could also have 33 i suppose and you're f-ed. |

After thinking some more, I'd put CO on JQs. [/ QUOTE ] How often do winning TAGs coldcall preflop with QJs? |

I didn't think cold calling with QJs in the CO was so bad when you expect 4 or more players to see the flop. Is it? [/ QUOTE ] It kinda is bad, especially since "four or more" assumes that either the button or one of the blinds will call. I would probably want at least four players ahead of me to be in the pot already before I would coldcall, and even then if I was in the CO I would want the button to be a tight player who was fairly likely to fold. |
