JJ -- First hand of today's B&M session. Game on...!

This is at the Concorde in Vienna.

The scene: It's mostly regulars, which means a bunch of old Austrian men. I'm pretty much the youngest guy in the place by 20 years and I'm 23. I'm also from Canada and just over here on work exchange. I haven't picked up much German, and that's obviously all these guys speak. I play an aggressive SSH game, and lots of them get angry & try to give me [censored] for it. They are a bunch of weak-tighties and I laugh as I raise.

SB is a little smarter than, but fits the description of above. I sit down and post in the CO for my first hand. I check my cards and cooly raise before my ass hits the seat...

Also, this definitely could have been viewed as me sitting down and just going nuts with any two on my first hand. Oddly enough, the same thing happened yesterday. First hand, Jacks. Lots of action on my overpair flop followed up with a perfect J on the turn.

First, let me just say how cool it is that someone not in the hand bet this turn. [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

You've got a rainbow turn here. What scares you? There are only two hands that can beat you: 56 and 9T. I don't see 56 calling 1.5 bets cold preflop, and I don't see 9T three-betting this flop. I'm seeing a set-over-set situation where you rule the roost. Cap the turn, cap the river, show your better set and leave him stunned and crying into his warm beer.

Good call pokey, see the edit. That's what you get for trying to make a B&amp;M HH look all nice and pretty.

I was definitely considering the set over set. Also, I would give this guy credit for a little better than top-50% hands from the small blind, especially since it was my first hand.

Let me just add one thing: as a good player, faced with a total unknown idiot who just sat down and raised HIS OWN BLIND, you've got to be thinking he's a maniac. With anything decent, you're betting this one to the max. I could see SB behaving this way with ANY pocket pair or even AK/AQ. Why let up the aggression when the board has nothing but junk on it? And if he hit trips, then he knows -- KNOWS -- he's got you dead, and he's going to make you pay for it.

You're the unknown in this situation, not him. You're the fresh meat. You're the target. He's got you and he's going to punish you for being beligerent on his table.

Little does he know he's got 1-2 outs to beat you and you are NOT a donk.
