Re: ne1 who doesn\'t visit the guys upstairs should read this thread
The pissing match stuff is hilarious, though. "Paul hurt my feelings" "Don't tell ME how to act".
Jesus, people, grow a pair. EDIT: OK, I kept reading and it got really annoying. Never mind it being hilarious. |

Ok, I tried to read through it, but found only
pissing match material. Could you editorialize the portion you found enlightening? Regards, Mike L. |

Re: ne1 who doesn\'t visit the guys upstairs should read this thread
Yeah it's too bad that all the WPT forum crowd had to follow him into Mid-High and destroy the thread. I used to wonder why Paul only posted in that forum and wished he would post in Mid-High or MTT, but I now see that he'll attract the usual trollish behavior where ever he goes.

Re: ne1 who doesn\'t visit the guys upstairs should read this thread
There's a difference between being too lazy and having to read through a hundred fanboys/haters posts on PP's personality. If you just said which posts were interesting to start with, then you would be saving all of us a lot of time.

Re: ne1 who doesn\'t visit the guys upstairs should read this thread
After the original post and Philips' followup, I found exactly one post with actual content, and it was well worth reading. Titled "Perspective from a player in the game", by username Michael Jensen. Made wading through the whole pissing match worthwhile.

Re: ne1 who doesn\'t visit the guys upstairs should read this thread
there are 4 that i found:
PP: 1.What a strange perspective... 2. Obviously throwing tons of money into speculative hands preflop to double/triple up is a positive expectation play for you ... 3. I was playing at the table next to Paul Phillips... 4. How do you think spirit rock wins on ub .... |

Re: ne1 who doesn\'t visit the guys upstairs should read this thread
Ok, I've read through the "insightful" posts you mentioned
and here is my .02: 1) You can no more judge how to play NL by watching Paul Phillips piss away or make his chump change than you can by watching a high-roller work off his tilt at the penny tables. 2) What is listed here is anecdotal, at best. There is no way to determine if his one time clean up was nothing more than the necessary variance that this type play generates. 3) Most players must go through the following stages, and in order, to learn all aspect of NL poker: a) Weak-Tight play (to learn not to play the hands that look good but lose a ton of cash). b) Tight-Aggressive (to learn how to protect big but vulnerable hands and to increase the profit on made hands.) Then, and only then, can one understand how to play: c) Loose-Aggressive Be careful jumping into the deep water before learning how to swim REALLY well, Mike L. |
