I believe I will take a break from live poker.
I am getting my head kicked in playing live at the casino but i am running good online. I think the only smart thing to do is take a little break from live play. I believe I'll give it a rest for a week or two and then see how it goes.

Re: I believe I will take a break from live poker.
Heh, same here. Just started playing B&M regularly (just turned 21 and I had to drive a huge ass distance to play before) and in the whopping 3 days I've played I'm down approximately $1,500 at $8/16. I've made about $1,000 playing online today, but damn does it still hurt
Unfortunately for me, I'm a glutton for punishment and I really want to get B&M hours in (as much as possible) to see if I could ever feasibly make it as a B&M pro if I needed to (obviously not at $8/16, but $20/40+). |

EDIT: I saw that this was all in 3 days--and the first 3 days this player has played live, at that. Is that what you're referring to? The size of the downswing doesn't strike me as that big of a deal, if it's a winning player's downswing and not, uh, standard "losing." |

Pretty crappy and I "shouldn't" have been playing that long, but I was definitely "beating" the game the entire time. They aren't exactly the highest caliber players around. They tend to be a tad too passive and too loose, though there are some weak-tighties and a LAG thrown in usually. Maybe one other TAG (some regular filipino kid who seems to be there every time I am). Anyways, yesterday took $450 off of that loss, so I'm now down about $550 in that game. This can't be all that uncommon and seems like normal variance to me... |

I'm just replying to myself since I saw this near the top. I'm up a whopping $50 in the Bay 101 $8/16 after 25 hours of play. I hate variance...

hehe. I just played it for the first time in a year today because there was a seat open and the big games had a list. Damn, that is a good game. Up $160 in 15 minutes before they started a must-move 20-40. Those players are idiots.

That is totally normal variance. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
