How much do casino poker dealers make?
If i get out of college and move to atlantic city, how hard would it be to get a job as a dealer? I would imagine that they make a decent amount of money since they are constantly getting tips after every few hands dealt. Are they able to keep all the tips they get? How much would a casino pay them per hour on top of this?
I know it all depends, but how much can an average poker dealer make working for a casino? Thanks. |

I should have written - "If someone just got out of college and moved to atlantic city, how hard would it be for him/her to get a job as a dealer?"
I'm just curious how hard it is to become a dealer and how much they can expect to make. I know it's not a respectable profession |

Re: How much do casino poker dealers make?
One of my friends is actually a dealer in atlantic city. He says he makes about 95k a year (not too shabby) He graduated college and moved there to become a dealer. He says he got the job because he knew someone there that got him in. He also said that you need a good credit record and no criminal convictions for them to consider your application. Not sure how long before he was dealing before he was a regular dealer at the 10-20 and 20-40 tables, but dealing at these levels he makes his 95k. Check on individual casino websites for the current positions they are offering (most will have this on their site).

By they way, this guy just turned 28 last month. 95k at that age sounds to be a decent salary if you as me (even if you are not using your college degree)

My brother graduated with honors from Wharton, perhaps the best business school in the country. He makes a comparable living to 95K/year in AC. |

That's nearly $2 per pot when you figure in breaks and game delays. If your friend claims to be making this much, he is either grossly exaggerating or on one of the luckiest toke-runs in the history of poker. Don't plan on making anywhere near 95k/year as a dealer. |

Re: How much do casino poker dealers make?
That is correct. With all the new low limit players in the games, most of them don't tips because "on the internet..." and they are just cheap or dont know any better. The average base pay is around minimum wage or just above that. So tips are dealers livelyhood. The best dealers that are SOLID and quick/efficient in Vegas can make around 60k. Dont go expecting 90k+. Seems that the average is around mid 40's to maybe 50k. But you have to account for cost of living. You wont afford a house on that income out here. Apartments are climbing to the 1000-1200 range for 2br in nice areas. Sometimes higher.
