Question - Typical Opening Bets in Live NL - $100 Max ($1/$2 Blinds)
Morning all:
Can any folks who normally play B&M NL $100 max comment on typical opening bets/raise amounts? I played it for the first time live last night, and had a hard time adjusting (have played online NL only, but plenty of B&M limit). The opening PF raises were typically $10-$12 (5-6BB), and typical flop opening bets/raises were in the $10-$30 range (10-15BB). This seemed a bit steep to me - is this normal? I was having a hard time gaining any momentum (and stack). Waiting for good cards, not having them turn into anything, etc. I was expecting opening bets/raises to be a bit lower ($4-$8 - 2BB-4BB). Thanks, jbc |

Where do you play online where the opening bets are so small? 5-6BB's seem to be the standard in online play as well from what I've seen. I've never played NL in a B&M but I would think that it would play much the same if not a little looser. JMO

Re: Question - Typical Opening Bets in Live NL - $100 Max ($1/$2 Blind
Hey, I've played a fair amount of B&M 100max. (In fact, going to the casino tomorrow for a little while, whee)
Every now and then some dude will open raise for like 20$, 25, 30, etc. Sometimes with hands like 33, KJ, A3, etc. It doesn't make sense. For the most part these pre flop raises dont get called and people just sorta look at one another and wonder what the hell just happened. [ QUOTE ] The opening PF raises were typically $10-$12 (5-6BB) [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, that sounds reasonable. Different players (obv!) do differently, but expect those type of raises. I try to keep a 4xbb+1/limper like I do online, but sometimes it's just so easy to throw out 2 red chips and ignore any limpers. Of course, if people ARE calling huge raises, raise big with your big hands and get paid off =) |

Re: Question - Typical Opening Bets in Live NL - $100 Max ($1/$2 Blind
Thanks, sounds like I need to make some adjustments. There were a lot of people playing a lot of hands, even if it cost 10-15$ to see a flop. Typical hands like K9s, JTo, small aces, etc. It sort of lured me into playing too loose for a while, but it's a lesson learned.
Thanks, jbc |

IMHO and small BM experience a 200 min max game(2-4/5 blinds) is much better quality wise than 1-2...
Perhaps you should try it out. |

[/ QUOTE ] Thanks zaxx, I was thinking of playing this game instead. Will do next time. They also had a $300 MIN table, but the stacks there were a little scary jbc |

If that ? was for me I sat for about 30 hours in the baby 200 min max @ Mandalay Bay...and found it to be quite decent with a good mixture of players. Plus the pokeroom there is great especially since its small.
