Does everyone call with ANY PP from MP? I'm finding it a little spewy with 22-66.
From 66 down I have one net winner. The rest are costing me a fortune... Anyone with a ginormous sample making a decent amount with these? |

If you play them with a "go-for-the-set" mentality, you shouldn't be a loser with them given enough time. You may be calling down or cold-calling with them too often.

I virtually never cold-call. In fact, I don't do it even when I'm supposed too.
I tend to bet out if the flop comes say JJRag. Call a raise and check fold the turn UI. And that's 3-handed at most. Most of the time I abandon them. It just irks me to throw $1 into the pot, have it raised behind me. Throw another $1 in. No set. Fold. That gets costly. You're 24:1 to hit your set. I know you win fat pots when you do. But big enough to makes this profitable? |

Don't doubt it. How though?
50 unseen cards. 2 make your set. |

Three cards come on the flop...I think it's 7.5:1 that you'll hit a set or better

Don't doubt it. How though? 50 unseen cards. 2 make your set. [/ QUOTE ] It deals with probability and combinations. Choose 2 cards from the other 48 and then one of your rank. Divide that by the total number of ways to choose 3 cards from 50. [C(48,2)*2]/C(50,3) = 0.115 Hence, you make your set ~12% of the time. |

IMO it would depend on the table. Tight table, I'd consider throwing 55 and below if not first in. Loose passive table, I'd consider it. Agg table, fold every time. Paying 2 bets to see a flop with 44 and below will end up costing you a lot.
The times you do flop a set, you may make money, but you're only 12% to make it, and there's always the chance of being outdrawn to a higher PP. |

I usually play down through 66, but I only play 22-55 if the table is loose "and passive".

I definitely don't mind if the table is typical and someone is already in. First in, I only limp if I'm fairly confident those behind me are loose and passive. For example, I fold 44 in MP when it's folded to me if I have a LAG still to play.
