Default Best Moment in Sports

The forum needs a more light hearted topic for discussion:

What is the best moment in sports?

There are certain moments that you can rely upon to give you your money's worth every time.

For example: Cal Football. Traditionally, the team sucks, but I get my money's worth when the band rolls onto the field before the game. It is great. A bomb goes off in endzone and the drum major high steps to the 50. The band follows playing "Hail to California."

Anyway, my nomination for best moment in sports is:

1. Eric Gagne taking the field. It is simply awesome. Before the whole thing starts, there is already a buzz in Dodger Stadium. Then ... the the song starts with flashing lights: "Welcome to the Jungle." The scoreboard flashes repeadedly, "GAME OVER." and a bunch of E.G. heads are floating all over the screen with the goggles and fuzzy beards.

Then the man starts his jog out to the mound and there is an electricity going through the whole stadium. We are about to watch a master practice his craft. Its hopeless for the other team.

Then, dispite the buildup, he brings the whole arsenal of wicked stuff and exceeds expectations.

But you knew that was going to happen. And that is why Gagne's entrance is the best moment in sports.

IT WAS...

The Chicago Bulls being introduced at home, with the opening song by the Alan Parsons Project. Unbelievable.

I haven't been to many sporting events so my view is limited, but I love it when all of Safeco field is yelling I-CHI-RO loud as hell.

Not what he's talking about. He's talking about regularly occurring moments in sports that still happen, not about great one-time historical moments.
