I had been playing perfect Stud8 all day...Crushed a 2-4 table earlier for ALOT...was up about 10 big bets in my first 30 minutes playing 3-6 at a table with some bad players. I then made a terrible mistake and left the table and ended my night early...

Is my call on 6th street bad?
Should I call down on the end?
All I have to say is that these rough eights have been costing me a lot of money lately!
I played great aggresive poker all day and then this giant mess happened.

I play it the same up until the river. I certainly call one bet on the river. If it's jammed, you might let it go, but you'd probably feel a little silly if 8J54 was jamming with the straight. Paying off hands like this doesn't give me a warm, fuzzy feeling, either, but if this is the worst mistake you made all night, you were probably playing pretty well.

I agree with what Andy said. Why did Seat 4 (8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]) raise on 3rd? You'd think he'd have a wired pair, 3-flush or 3-straight to do this.

On 5th I had the best low draw and I thought there were enough people in the pot to make it a profitable draw. On 6th the guy who raised on 3rd street obvouisly makes an 8-low. I have a good draw to a 7 with a lot of live cards and I know I will get payed off if I hit. Then I catch an 8. The 3rd street raiser and this other guy start jamming and I somehow get into for 4 bets on the river. One guy has a full house and our 3rd street raiser showed 23-8x54-6 for a 6 high straight...if I would have caught that six and he would have caught a blank I think I would have been much happier...thanks for the responses though

Yeah, when a guy raises on third street, I put him on (23)8. Much more likely to a be a high hand. Don't beat yourself up about this one.
