personal challenge: 10k hands in a day (50NL 6max)
Lately I have had two problems that are very common to poker players:
-sleep schedule totally hosed (woke up today at about 7 PM) -hard time putting in enough hours To fix this, I am going to play a personal marathon of poker tonight (and tomorrow). I am going to start playing now (9 PM EST) and try to play until I have 10k hands, with breaks here and there if needed. I play 4-6 tables of $50NL 6-max, so that equals about 10 hours of poker. I wanted to post about this to make sure I followed through. Wish me luck! If anyone is interested, I will post updates. |

good luck man,
just realize that's an almost impossible mountain to climb; don't burn your BR or yourself trying to do it. fim |

Re: personal challenge: 10k hands in a day (50NL 6max)
I am really interested in hearing about how this goes as in the B&Ms I typically play 10 to 16 hour sessions. I have played on my trips to the B&Ms the longest was a 28 hour session. I am not saying that one is better than another but am very curious to hear how such a thing goes with some online play. Keep us posted.

I'd be very curious to see graphs of your VPIP PFR BB/100 etc. over the course of the time. Of course it wouldn't be statistically significant, but I bet if you looked at it you could be like "Yeah, I got really cold decked for an hour." or "Yeah, I went on tilt for a good ten minutes there."

Re: personal challenge: 10k hands in a day (50NL 6max)
Thanks for the encouragement guys. I will post updates whenever I get a chance. Was about to post that I was +$30 after 500 hands, but lost about $150 while typing the post... DOH!
Intereting notes so far.. One of my tables has a 78/30 guy (I have 125 hands on him) with $523 at the table. He just busted me for $60 with J8 vs 99 on an 8 high flop. Hopefully he hangs out for a bit. Here are 2 noteworthy hands: Here is one where I tried to represent a bluff on the river with a big hand. Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 max, 5 handed) converter MP ($24.35) Hero ($104.48) SB ($7.95) BB ($461.96) UTG ($60.65) Preflop: Hero is Button with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.5. UTG calls $1, 1 fold, Hero raises to $4, 1 fold, BB calls $3, UTG calls $3. Don't think too many people re-raise with anything worse than an overpair, but maybe that is just me.

Yep, you are right. I think my call was a pretty bad one there. I am either way behind (or dead), or slightly ahead of drawing hands.

Re: personal challenge: 10k hands in a day (50NL 6max)
Hang in there.
Want to mention which tables you're playing at? Need moral support and/or mad 2+2 LAG behaviour? Cheers, --JTR. |
