Tried 4 tabling for the 1st time tonite

Just at the $11 at party. Not too bad with the awesome Dell 2001FP but will still have to get used to the whole screen flashing at me when I have 4 decisions to make on the bubble at the same time.

I sometimes like to start the games 2 levels apart, eg play a one-table till level 2, then start a new game, play that till level 2, then start a new one etc...

Makes it a little easier on the decisions, and your rarely heads up in 2 or more tables, which can get nasty.

Just experiment and see what you like.

Try stagering your starts you wont have as many decisions to make.. maybe only 1-2 tables will be at the bubble other tables will be in early stages where you wont be playing as many hands.. much easier

I've seen this theory here several times but it doesn't work for me. If I start two and then antoher two at level 2 or 3 I have trouble sorting out what's going on because the games are so different. If you are still in the early keep ahold of your chips stage on one table and the steal the blinds on the bubble phase of another it requires two different types of thinking at the same time and I have trouble switching back and forth. If I am fortunate enough to be heads up on two or three tables at once it's not that bad I just tend to let the timer tick down a bit more than normal but I don't have to adjust my entire line of thought every few seconds.

To me staggering is like playing two tables of hold'em and two of stud or omaha. Some can probably do it but it's tough for me.

I completely agree. I think it's also nice when all your games finish (relatively) at the same time, because then you can take a 10 minute break or whatever to clear your mind/ grab a drink/ go to the bathroom/ etc. before your next "set". Staggering your starts doesn't give you that luxury.

I think this is the "truth." There would need to be incredible talent to stagger with that many tables. Furthermore, I have only heard from posters on this site who 8 table, that they start them all at once. Afterwards, they take a break, record their stats, take a leak, count their money, call their mom back, check their email porn, etc. And then move on to the next eight.

Maybe I am not adjusting multitabling well, but I like stage games. To me if I am autopilot, I lost aggression easily. Watching a little closely when table gets 4-6 handed helps my result. Since I almost always run into short handed situation, I don't like play 4 short handed game at the same time. I find stage works better.

Just do a few sets of 2tabling, a few of 3 and then try 4.

No, I just use one monitor that fits 4 tables on it with no overlap. If I ever start 8 tabling I would get a 2nd monitor.
