Default Niagara Poker

The room had 8 tables, to the left of the Club 365(main bar). There's a 4 foot wall running around it to keep railbirds from getting too close. The noise is kind of bad at busy night times, with the slots and the band and such. You have to be fairly close to the poker area to hear the intercom. They have phone in (905)371-7777 (98% on that) for seats.

They were spreading 4/8, 6/12, 10/20, 20/40 limit, and 5-5nl (500 max), and 5-10nl (2500 max).

The dealers were new and a bit slow, a few were clueless but overall OK. The games were pretty good, but thats from a small sample size.

They currently shut down at 4am (and reopen at 12:30pm) - crazy I know, temporary apparently during opening period.

Waitresses are well siliconed and one brought me an extra beer after last call - they were aces in my book. Though again, a small sample size.

I'm surprised though they didn't do a little more than that for a poker room.

How were the games? 10/20?

Default How skillful was the 2500NL game?

I suspect the guy who lost 16K is a crack head but, did he get some real bad beats? Was it a rock garden? I just hope the loss by the wildman didn't add to another statistic in the Niagara river.....

I waited 6 hours on Saturday night for the 5/10 NL at Fallsview, and my name didn't move. I decided to hop across the border to Seneca, and got seated within an hour.

That 5/10 NL on Sat. was a great game. $10,000 pots were regular.

Seneca often runs a 1/5 stud game.

I played at the new Niagara casino on saturday night (after waiting 6 hours for that stupid celebrity poker tournament to finish). The 5-10NL was REALLY good, watched one guy lose $8000 in one hand, and $16000 on the night. The 5-5NL was pretty much tight, with the occasional donkey all-in with KQo preflop. Low-limits were tight as hell, which was surprising. I played the whole night at the 4/8 table, slowly bleeding chips to all the TAG's, until these two drunken siblings arrived at our table and began pissing chips like it was a sport. At one point i was down about $140, but thanks to those bro's, I finished up. Classic example, one of the siblings raises and reraises me on every street, I table a boat, he tables a 7-high bluff. To which the other brother blurts to the dealer "..are my ears too small for my head?". Gotta love the drunks at the table, so good for the game.

From speaking to the dealers, they seem to think the casino is going to double the number of tables at some point in the future, although no clear date on that. The owner of the casino however, doesn't like poker, so it may be tough to pull that off. I was a little disappointed walking into a casino/resort that cost over $1 billion to build, that only has 8 poker tables. I don't think i'd go back if it wasn't for the fact they spread 5-5NL and 5-10NL.

They will also be spreading Omaha and Omaha Hi/Lo, once they've trained the dealers on the nuances of the game. I asked about stud, but i dont' think they've even begun training the dealers for that.

On a side note, I wish they had a "hand of the day" jackpot like some of the vegas casinos, as I felted a guy (we called him smiley) with a King high straight flush. Mind you, at the rate he was buying back into the game, I probably could've felted him with 3 pair.

You realize that the "owner" is the government of Ontario...
