Default Suggestion for mix of chips (Suits!)

Hi,

I just got samples of the suits, they're great.

If I wanted to get 800 or so for home games, what mix of chips would give me the greatest flexibility for both cash and tournament games?

Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Francis

There's a deep thread about it here somewhere. I'll look it up tomorrow unless someone beats me to it.

I think I used the words "chip breakdown" - I'll try it in a minute and reply back.

Ugh, that wasn't it - too many matches. I'll ponder it and try to remember what I used - I just did this last week and had a good search.

Yeah, the search engine isn't very good. FYI - One thing I do is to search a user's posts for threads... e.g. Tabascojrc did the designs so you could search thru his posts for the Suits threads for breakdowns.

One thing to take in account is how you might want to setup your tourneys e.g. like homepokertourney recomendations (e.g. start at 5-10) or like a Foxwoods schedule where they start at 25-25, 25-50 etc... Would depend on whether you make them heavy in the 5's & 25's or in the 25's & 100's. Also consider the stakes you would normally play. Of course with non-denoms you get the benefit of flexibility so you'll more likely want to go heavy on the two chips you like the best. The homepokertourney site has some recommended breakdowns that'll help.

Are you getting/wanting all six chips?

FYI - I have an excel file I used to mess with chipbreakdowns for tourneys... I changed it for the suits and just threw in some numbers. Looks like this. You can grab the file from here. It was easier for me to play with the numbers and see how many players at X chips etc...

Sorry for so many posts, but one of the posts that I found last week lead me to here Home Tournament Chips which gives a decent overview of chip issues for home tournaments.

As for searching, I found that if you search for "color breakdown" in the subject with quotes, you'll get a few good threads.

This is the thread, has many mixes of different quantities of suits chips: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...t=all&vc=1

I ended up getting 1000 with the following mix:
175 White
250 Red
275 Green
175 Black
75 Purple
50 Blue

The right mix for you depends on how many colors you want, whether you decide to get the blue star or not which is the oddball of the bunch. I'm thinking of ordering another 100 for no other reason than I have two cases that hold 550 each (elite 550) and now with 1000, there's a 100 chip gap.

Warewulf and all,

thx for the input and the links. Good reading. I'm getting ready to place an order.

Now, to build a table... :-)

Here was my final breakdown for 1000 chips:

200 whites
275 red
275 green
150 black
50 purple
50 blue

plus I got 25 extra (4 of each color and 5 of one) in case I need replacements for the set.

Hope this helps.
