Default Gamblor does FLA

Any 2+2ers in the Fort Lauderdale area interested in a home game.

I'll be here getting drunk(er) for the next week.

Does anyone know of any games - private or otherwise - in the area?

BTW US Airways lost my baggage so [censored] them.

Have you tried the Hard Rock? My mom is in Ft. Lauderdale.. I keep meaning to check it out when I visit but haven't had a chance yet.

Default the Hard Rock is a joke

1-2 and straight 2 limits the last time I was down there (july), plus a 3-5 hour wait on a weekend night Don't waste your time. Sail on the St. Tropez, which has a good 1-4-8-8 game and also a 10-20 game on busy nights.

You could try Home Poker Games.com and see if they have anything.

I live and play in the Fort Lauderdale area. There are some local places to play like the Hollywood Hard Rock and the Hollywood Greyhound Track. Both feature limit games of 1-2 and 2-2 and the competition is extremely poor- mostly maniacs and calling stations with a ghastly high rake. The games at the Hard Rock are very loose with often 6+ players in for a capped flop with dubious holdings like 74 suited and worse.

The Hard Rock has tournaments almost daily.

I dont know of any home games in the area although I am trying to start one with a few friends after I come back from Vegas in a few weeks.

ive played at the hard rock at tampa... wondering if any differences down around miami @ hollywood?

btw, rake is 10% $5 max (isane) plus $1 for the progressive spade royal .. so $6 rake almost every pot, plus the dealers expect a $2 tip every hand... ive seen them scurm over a $1 thrown to them on a $80+ pot... so your talking about 10% off your pot .. 2-2 is profitable? im still trying to find out

i don't know what "scurm" means, but if the dealers don't appreciate the $1 tip per pot, which should work out to at least $30 an hour if they're not entirely incompetent, i'd just stop tipping them completely.

I have played at the Hard Rock in Tampa as well. The Hollywood Hard Rock has a 3x bigger area cardroom than Tampa and the games at the Hollywood Hard Rock seem wilder than anywhere else in FLA. The rake is 10% with a $5 max with a mandatrory $1 bad beat jackpot rake so $6 gets taken out quite often.

The bad beat jackpot attracts many poor players. The bads beat is aces full of jacks or better beaten by quads or better with both players using both hole cards. The jackpot often gets up to the $100,000 mark and the $ attracts all kinds of oddballs hoping to get lucky.

I almost never tip more than $1 because the other rake, jackpot rakes are so high. It doesnt seem to make a difference because I am friends with many of the dealers.

2-2 is moderalely profitable for me becuse the blinds are 1-2 and the pots often have 15+ ($2) bets preflop, so it takes a lot of patience to beat the rake. Also, because the bet size doesnt increase on the turn and river people are usually getting odds like 25-1 and higher on the flop and on the turn to draw out so protecting your hand can be tricky.

protecting your hand can be hella tricky.. i once showed this guy my trip 5's fulla aces.. i know hes holding a high pocket... people chasing flushes on same hand.. etc... he has QQ.. river is a Q of course, im telling him save your $8 cappped.. but no... and the $200 pot on 2-2 goes to him

jack, wondering if u can elabortate on the strategy you use to be profitable in this game.. $6 rake, its the best game closest to me in tampa (spade royal progressive) so i'd like to know how to beat those fools playing it.. i always seem to play good for 1-2 hrs, but after seeing all the bad beats on these stupid calls with 92 offsuit, i start playing crap and always finish for a loss

just leave cursing and wondering why i didnt drive further to an NL game

I think the answer is hidden within the question.
