What do you do while waiting for a seat
You drive to the casino (for me its 1 hour) park the car in the boonies and then walk inside only to find out you have 7 players before you on the wait list. Pretty frustrating eh?
I usually grab a drink at the bar and wait but last week I decided to play blackjack. After 30 minutes I was up $1000. They still didn't call my name so I said screw it, took my thousand and went home. Thank you very much. So getting back to my original question: What do you do while waiting for a seat? |

Re: What do you do while waiting for a seat
I don't play any other casino games for the simple reason that I'm a poker player. I spend my time, while waiting for a seat, by watching the table I'll most likely be sitting at. I watch the texture of the game and try to pick up tells and playing styles of players I haven't seen before. Any remaining time I spend chatting with the card room manager or any players I know that are also waiting.

Re: What do you do while waiting for a seat
Only 1 hour? Geez, that's nothing I play low limits (3/6, 4/8), so there's no sense in trying to scout a table because there's 8 or so of each. I avoid the casino games because at Canterbury you have to pay a charge per hand of BJ and I just don't like them that much (unless I'm casino whoring). I usually pickup Cardplayer and read that. I also usually bring a paperback book and read that.

Re: What do you do while waiting for a seat
I bring a poker book because the wait on the weekends can approach the half-life of Carbon-14.
I started a thread a while back trying to decide if video poker was +EV enough to play while waiting for a seat. The consensus was, I was better off studying a poker book. |

Re: What do you do while waiting for a seat
Based on my original question and although I have not tried it...it begs the question have you tipped the room manager or person in charge of the list to bump you up?
I have often thought of this but would not attempt it for fear of insulting someone. |

Re: What do you do while waiting for a seat
Dude,
I once almost incited a riot when I admitted that I would hijack someones place. At the Borgata they have a digital board to see your name. I would put make a note of whose name the brush would call next and go right before the final call. |
