Paulson selling to public?
On a couple other forums, there was a link to apachepokerchips.com saying that Paulson was coming out with a chip to sell to the public. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Re: Paulson selling to public?
Word is there will 3-4 different sets available to the public by early next year. The Apache set is one of them (though they have changed to a "Hold'em" design that is supposed to look a lot like the Chipco "Rounders" design due to copyright reasons). Also, there is an eBay seller that I believe said he was having 2 different sets made. Not sure if there are other sets coming or who will have them to offer. The mold for the home chips is different now though; it has two hat + cane marks and says "PAULSON CHIPS" twice in between.

Re: Paulson selling to public?
Hopefully they'll do custom chips. I could suffer the new mold if they stick what I want in the middle

Re: Paulson selling to public?
Minimum order from them is 250,000 chips. Enough custom chips for you and several of your best friends.

Re: Paulson selling to public?
That is not their real minimum order. I worked at Casino Pauma, an Indian Casino in San Diego. and was training there before they opened and dealt on opening day. They use Paulson chips. I remember discussing with the table games manager two months before the opening about which colors and edge spots he chose, he had they entire 100 chip sample set there in front of him. He said that the casino bought 62,500 total. Given that this was a smallish casino with four poker tables and 25 blackjack/paigow tables. But obviously they can do smaller orders than 250,000 if full casinos are not buying that much.

Re: Paulson selling to public?
I've been to Casino Pauma, so I know what you're talking about. They should simply create several lines of chips and let the customer choose them. Makes it easy on everyone.

Re: Paulson selling to public?
Paulson certianly could do smaller runs, even 500 if they wish.
They have choosen to sell thier home chips to one exclusive vendor. That vendor has a minimum of 250,000 chips to do a custom run. The 250,000 chips is not Paulsoms minimums it is their vendors minimums. |

Re: Paulson selling to public?
I think the inital order for them to start things out is going to be high. I think in the upcoming year we will see a lot of changes in the chip market. Poker is booming right now! I remember last year at this time I had a hard time getting a game together. Now there's regular games practically every day of the week! My regular tourney on Fridays averages around 10-15 people. Last week we had 24 people and had many more that we had to turn away. The last 6 to show up had to play on a table outside in 40 degree weather.
There's a lot more demand, not enough supply yet. |

Re: Paulson selling to public?
Yeah, I could live with the molding, as long as the chip had the same feel, sound and weight that makes Paulson the best.
