Default Hardest thing I\'ve ever had to do.

Today I made the decision to quite poker. I moved Korea 6 months ago to play online poker full time for a year. I played $5/10 Nl on UB (sometimes $25/50 when I got ballsy).

Last month my girlfriend had an serious head injury, which forced me to withdrawal my entire bankroll to pay for (except about $1000), as we had no insurance down here. Quiting has been an extremely tough decision for me to make, Poker has been very good to me this past 6 months. I have managed to pay off all my student loans as well as my girlfriend's, given me a trip to Aruba, and let me buy alot of things that I never would have been able to without it.

Instead of rebuilding my bankroll with that $1000, I have decided to us it for a christmas vacation to Thailand which I promised to my girlfriend months ago.

I've decided to get a job teaching English to Korean buisnessmen so I can have a guaranteed income. Just writing this to thank everyone here for there help over the past while, I never would have gone where I did with poker without 2+2. Also wondering if anyone else has been at this point in there poker career which they have come back from.

Thanks all.

I don't understand why you are quitting and frankly I think you are making a mistake. From the sounds of it poker has been very good to you, and thankfully allowed you help your girlfriend with her injury. And now you want to quit? I think getting a job makes sense, the vacation seems fun. But why not rebuild, perhaps slower than usual but what happens if you need that kind of cash again? I don't think it has to be all or nothing.

Best of luck and why Korea? I spent a year there, interesting place.

This is a joke, right?

EDIT: Not the massive head wound part, the part where you're going to teach English.

There's not much else to do down here for work, my girlfriend's making pretty good money.

I read back over my original post and I probably made my girlfriend's injury to be more than it actually was. She just passed out for no reason and hit her head of the cement. she just had a major concussion, but the CT scans and tests to find out why she passed out were very costly.

As to why I'm quiting, the money I would make playing lower limits I don't think would support us down here, so I'll have to get a job. Eventually I might be able to throw some more money in but for now, it looks like I'm done.

Im not familiar with Korean law, but do they have restrictions against recreational players? I mean do you either have to play professionaly or quit the game entirely?

No, it's not like that. It's just money is so tight that I can't play recreationally or for a living. Well I guess I could keep like $50 in or something but the money I would make from that would not be worth it for me right now
