Do I still love Arizona? Trip - literally - report
So, laptop works great in most hotel rooms. Most have no additional charges. I'm getting some play in, even when there are no casinos around! So, what happens while I'm playing? Something is happening to my car.........
That's right. My car gets towed away I go to the office and ask WTF is going on. They say, oops, mistake. Sorry for the inconvience. Alright, I can live with this. We go to an impound lot to get my car (nothing expensive, but drives nicely). I wait patiently, show my DL and I sign the papers and am taken to my car. I get in the drivers side and start it up. The tranny makes a strange sound, and I can't turn the steering wheel. I get out and find that the passenger-side tires are both off the rims. Unfucking believable. But, it gets better! They send an adjuster out to look at it, and the whole story is that the car fell off the dolly while going 50mph, in park! Yeah, just plunked down and the tires blew and the tranny got torched. Cool! They are working on a settlement. Is this a bad beat? Dogmeat [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] |

Ah, yes, the actual poker play. Casino Arizona in Scottsdale is great - good games and looks to be an easy 2-3BB/hour at the $4/8, $6/$12 and also the $10/$20 HE games. I did much better, but just held some cards. The $20/$40 game looked tough, but I was chicken to try it.
Online I am plugging away my usual games.........so it is actually great being on vacation. My wife and I will make it to Vegas as soon as the car issue is done, and then over to LA............. Best, Dogmeat [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] |

Re: Do I still love Arizona? Trip - literally - report
Where did you stay? I found the 10/20 players to be a bit more aggressive than most, but they are super-fishy and no different to the LAGs I experiance in NYC rooms. The only difference is that there seems to be a lot more of them than the NYC rooms, and their back-woods NASCAR attitudes put me on tilt. So it wasn't a good table for me to play at. I stuck with the 6/12 and the 4/8.

Not sure what you mean about the player's "backwoods, NASCAR attitudes". I have found the players in Arizona to be clean, dressed in decent clothes and friendly. I'm not from the east, or a big city, so maybe I am a hick to a NYC boy......... How did you feel the games were for beating? I didn't see too many LAG, I thought they were mostly weak/passive and easily beaten. I will be moving to the area soon.

[ QUOTE ]
How did you feel the games were for beating? I didn't see too many LAG, I thought they were mostly weak/passive and easily beaten. [/ QUOTE ] Thats great! I LOVE Phoenix, I'm there almost every month for business (my company publishes a magazine out there). When you move, let me know. In the lower limits it is all calling stations with the rare occasional LAG. This is a room where you sometimes won't see a pre-flop raise from AA.... its that passive! However the 10-20 and above seems to be filled with hyper aggressive players. Not as crazzy as Commerce, but it was a bit intimidating for me. Mind you LAG filled east coast games I love, but it is a slightly different style on the west coast. TT [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |

dogmeat,
Sorry about your car. I wouldn't classify it as a bad beat. I think that it is in the "dealer error" category. But you did the right thing by calling the floor (insurance adjuster) over to rectify the situation. |
