I just got a Viewsonic 19" monitor with 2048 x1536 max resolution. But when I got it home, I could only go to 1600x1200 resolution. The computer dude told me that I need a new graphic card. Fine. I bought that and installed it and I still can't get 2048 x 1536. I followed all the instructions in the advanced monitor display settings and I still can't get it to work.
Can anyone help me? Irieguy |

What video card do you have Irie? Make sure you have the latest video card drivers installed, and drivers for your monitor too. If your monitor is showing up as any sort of "generic monitor", it may not show all supported resolutions. I have the P95f+ and an nvidia video card, and I can get 2048x1536 without any problems.

I had a little trouble with my dual monitor setup that was similar, so I'll take a shot. In the documentation for both your video card and monitor, it should list supported resolutions for each. The highest resolution/frequency that matches is as good as it will get. Just because you bought a new video card does not mean it can support higher than 1600x1200 (though most should).
If you are absolutely sure that your video card and monitor are supposed to be able to handle the resolution/frequency you desire and are still having problems, update drivers if you haven't already. What kind of card are you using? |

Radeon 7000 video card. It says right on it that will support 2048x1536... but I can't get it to work. Any more specific help would be greatly appreciated.
