How long till a black guy wins the WSOP?
Okay, we've had talk here about Asian stereotypes and how they apply at the poker table -- both people saying how they try to use their conclusions to take advantage of Asians and how Asians try to use preconceptions to increase their own earn.
How about blacks, though? Does anyone feel or know they play any differently against blacks? And does anyone feel that there's some kind of reason behind it? We've had a very consistent run of white people winning the WSOP, aside from the Chinese(I think) Men the Master winning twice and who was it, Matloubi(?) winning once -- Arabic maybe? Dunno. So is that all but three times white people won? Things change -- but when? |

Ah I thought Men had won it. Strange.
But anyway, I mean the main event -- the one with all the trillions and jillions in it, where you get the free license to post about your win rate over 10k hands on 2+2 forums if you win. |

fyi:
your use of "black" as a noun sounds racist. Are you from the US? I am assuming so. If so, what state? I am assuming the South. I am sure you don't care, but I am at least spreading the message to other countries. |

Have you ever met any black people? Don't be scared. I've lived with and around black people for most of my life, including extraordinarily close relationships, and have never met one who didn't describe himself as black. I've also never met one who objected to being called black. Stop trying to congratulate yourself on political correctness and crap on whoever you hope might be vulnerable to your vulture-like tactics in the process. And stop trying to "save" people from your ivory tower. Get a real life. Good God, you need one. You ought to be ashamed of yourself. |

Re: How long till a black guy wins the WSOP?
E, I almost forgot I had even written in this thread. Upon rereading my post from last night, I would have toned it down a bit. I had a few drinks and was feeling cocky. I came off as quite rude.
But yes, I still think some of your statements sounds somewhat racist to me. Maybe that wasn't the intention and maybe others dont see it that way. "Does anyone feel or know they play any differently against blacks?" This is one sentence that struck me as odd. You may call it PC-ness gone mad but I do believe it sounds bad to refer to a "group of blacks" rather than "black people." Someone mentioned that the news uses the term black and they do. But as an adjective, not a noun. A subtle distinction, but a distinction nonetheless. I'll let it drop. You can all continue to flame on if you like. |

[/ QUOTE ] I came back pretty harsh myself. As someone who is proud to be a Southerner but also considers myself "enlightened," I have a sore spot for comments like that. "Does anyone feel or know they play any differently against blacks?" This is one sentence that struck me as odd. [/ QUOTE ] I have to agree that something in the tone of that statement struck me as well. Strangely, saying "asians" doesn't sound as bad to me. I don't know why, but it doesn't.
