Take heart you Dems, there\'s hope
All your party has to do is drop the paternalistic socialism angle, espeically universal govt health care, drop the race baiting, drop the class warfare rhetoric, drop the one world government crap that we all know Kerry and Clinton-type dems are in favor of, and learn a little bit about economics, and you'll have a chance in 2012. (You're screwed in 2008 cause Hillary will probably be the candidate, so plan for 2012).

Re: Take heart you Dems, there\'s hope
I think/hope we're smart enough not to give Hillary the nod in 2008. I do have to say I find it amusing that the right wingers take this election as a huge mandate proving all their policies were chosen by the people. Dude... 55 million people disagree with you. All it takes is 1.8 million people (or a little over 1%) voting the other way and you're reconsidering your politics.

Re: Take heart you Dems, there\'s hope
I think he's referring to more than just the presidency. However, losing California and New York makes it a tough go no matter what so the Republicans have to be concerned about that IMO.

Re: Take heart you Dems, there\'s hope
I would expect the Republicans to start making a major effort in CA over the next 8 years. If they can continue the current trend in Hispanic voters and tighten up the environvental agenda they may be in good shape.

A bigger hope for the Dems is that attitudes like yours will be broadcast by prominent Republicans, and that will swing the pendulum the other way.

Re: Take heart you Dems, there\'s hope
Andy, I don't think those are "attitudes" for the most part, but rather realistic assessments.

Good. I hope the Republicans adopt the language of those realistic assessments, calling their Democratic opponents Socialist, race baiting, one-worlding, economic ignoramuses.

Re: Take heart you Dems, there\'s hope
Natedogg didn't call the Democrat opponents those things. Rather, he said the Democratic Party needed to drop those things. There's a difference; and he's right.

Re: Take heart you Dems, there\'s hope
He said all they have to do to be successful is to drop those things, so he must think they believe them. I said that if the Republicans believe this of the Democrats, and express their viewpoints in the same language, it will be good for the Democrats.
