The Psychology of Poker
I'm sure everyone that frequents this forum has read Al's book. I just want to say that book changed my life.
If you guys recall I was the guy that started the thread "Stakes Tilt" and how I had blown over $20K moving up looking to win back losses in a twisted form of tilt. Yeah, well I just bought Al's book and haven't put in down in 5 days. I've read it like 8 times. I think I'm going to start applying this stuff and maybe I'll be able to maintain my optimal play instead of blowing my roll every two months. If you haven't read this book I suggest you buy it, it's worth the investment. Thanks Al and everyone at 2+2. |

Re: The Psychology of Poker
How has the book changed your life, other than you probably have not left your home in five days and are now a hermit while you finish reading it for the eighth time?
Certainly you have no poker-related items to say it changed since you say you are "going" to start applying it. Dogmeat [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] |

[ QUOTE ]
How has the book changed your life [/ QUOTE ] It got me thinking. . .Something I haven't done in a while. . It got me thinking and analyzing my poker game, something I neglected to do in the past. And yes I fail to have results as to how it changes my game. But, I think I'll make a ton of money b/c of it. And if not at least I'm thinking. Thanks for being patronizing though. |

Re: The Psychology of Poker
I can't find Al's book at any Border's bookstore.
Do I have to order it? |

Re: The Psychology of Poker
I'm surprised you haven't found it at Borders. It has sold far more copies than any other chain. You can order it from ANY bookstore, or from Conjelco or Amazon.

Re: The Psychology of Poker
I will have to agree with Tdomeski....Although the book didn't change my life, it did improve my game. The mental aspect of the game is the most important part and this book covers it in great detail. Defenately required reading..

Re: The Psychology of Poker
Good post,
Poker is above all else a people game. Dr. Al's book is a poker book about people. Any poker player who doesn't read this book is seriously missing out on a huge aspect of the game. |

Re: The Psychology of Poker
POP is on my A-list of poker books. It is useful for online and B&M games, but is a must read for any online player wandering into a B&M. The added time spent at one stretch with the same group of players makes the information in this book invaluable. And you'll pay for it with the first pot you take (or the first few bets you don't lose).

Re: The Psychology of Poker
just wondering how the book addresses tilt, and keeping up your A-game?
im less interested in the classification of opponents but more so the self analysis side of things. cheers. |
