Default The Dark Ages of America...

It really didnt matter to me that Bush was reelected, as i had said, i was 90% sure it would happen and Kerry probably would have been just as bad. However, the way states voted on gay marriage amendments is absouletely sickening.

The way this board talks about moral issues astounds me, the liberals "dont understand moral(e!) issues" and we need to make concessions to conservatives who blindly follow what the bible says, as if 2 men who love each other is really any different than a man and a woman loving each other. These elections have shown the south to be horrifically uncompassionate and shows how well they can disenfranchise a group of people. Maybe the bible really does say that it is a sin for 2 men or 2 women to be married, but even so, if the bible is going to dictate what is added to the constitution of certain states then we are in very big trouble.

These states are encouraging an atmosphere of hatred and misunderstanding towards gay and lesbian people and it is absouletely sickening. This election was all about "freedom from terrorists" and while we were at it we decided to take away the freedom of thousands and thousands of Americans. In the end, we will look back on this issue as we did on the way blacks were treated in the pre-civil rights world.

How about we make our country better by doing what we know is right instead of what the bible says/what southerners who obviously seem to have no understanding of homosexuality think? What a dark time in America this is.

What happens if the Defense of Marriage Act (DOM) is ruled unconstitutional as some point in the future?

Pittm you are really baffling me, what makes your views any more important than the views of the majority of Americans?
Just because their views are based on the bible and tradition that makes them fraudulent and void, I think this is flawed logic in itself. There is nothing wrong with CU's, and this country has been lead by the so-called "bible followers" for the last 200 years. Lincoln was a "bible follower" and he was one of the greatest Presidents...
Give it up, and quit insulting everybody that doesn't agree with you.

im pretty sure its the fact that their moral beliefs are based completely upon a fictional book...not actual logic as to what is fair and what isnt fair. the same people who are arguing against me now are the people who probably would have argued against civil rights in the 60's. They might say something like, what "right" do blacks have to vote? its just nonsensical. are homosexuals not legitimate human beings in peoples eyes? Thats the question that baffles me.

I'm not against civil rights. I'm against what the government has defined as civil rights. I'm against the government telling me who I can and can't hire, fire, do business with or allow in my place of business. Those are civil rights. And it's immoral for the government to tell me what I have to do with my own personal property/business. Certainly blacks should be allowed to vote but I shouldn't have to sell them a meal after their trip to the polls if I don't want to.

You're an absolute genius. I nominate you for poster of year. Congratulations.

One right that you do have is free-speech. If you have a restaurant I think you should post these views on the wall of that fine establishment. Then at least the fine white people that patronize your business will at least know that they wouldn't have to look at any darkies, or whatever you call them, if you had the property rights that god intended.

Congrats, Assshole

Following the bible and imposing the bible are two differnt things. His ideas are differnt because they don't infringe on someone elses right. In his world, the religious and the secular can live by their own morals where in the religious world, only religion can prevail.

What "right" do gays have to become married? Where is this "right" granted? Why should they be allowed to marry in the first place? Why is the official title of "marriage" so important to gays? Why do you object to marriage being between a man and a woman? Whay can't gays just get gayrried instead of married and be happy?
