Getting the maximum NL200 6 max
Villain in this hand is tight, very aggressive. 29VPIP, 14PFR. AF factors: preflop 0.81 / flop 4.85 (Sample size 3500 hands). My image is LAG/TAG, a mix. My numbers are 33VPIP, 18PFR, preflop AF 1, flop AF 5.68.
The only part of this hand I think I could have played better is the river. $150 was too large I believe, more than half my stack. It tells him that I am prepared to risk all my stack, meaning I have a good hand. I think a better bet would have been 60-80, allowing him to bluff me back over the top, or call me with something decent. People have been telling me I should have raised on the turn, but since he bet so much, I felt any raise ($200 being the smallest) would display too much strength and get him to fold. Thoughts? Re: Getting the maximum NL200 6 max
*Ramble on*
Given his $100 turn bet I think $150 on the river is the minimum bet. Betting 60-80 into a $400 pot would smell way too much of a value bet. In general I think an all in bet would be best actually. As it looks like a bluff. People are more inclined to call all in bets on the river than potsized/near potsized bets. Given the specific opponent, he obviously would lay his hand down to an all in. I definitely don't think you could bet less than his $100 turn bet. It would be completely out of context with the development of the hand. Maybe that would entice him to call out of sheer bafflement?? *Ramble off* |

Re: Getting the maximum NL200 6 max
Maybe he had some overpair, put you on an overpair, and thought the K was a scare card for you. When you called it, youve got Ks beat, so im not sure he calls any river bet, except maybe all in which might look like a steal.

Re: Getting the maximum NL200 6 max
Amen to that. If the King doesn't scare you then he knows he's in trouble. Not much you coulda got from him. When he checked on the river all you can do is bet what you THINK he'll call and $150 is a good bet.... You basically couldn't clean this guy out.

Not much you could do...almost certainly if you don't fold the turn, he will shut down.

Re: Getting the maximum NL200 6 max
i think the hand was played fine. i put him on queens or tens here and i think the king on the turn really shut him down. if you showed more strength on the flop he would probably fold since there arent any draws out there besides the TJ/67. On the river if you were on a draw you hit your pair of jacks, so betting 150 here is illogical. There really isn't many hands you could be bluffing with here, he just made a good laydown. I don't think you could have extracted much more.

Re: Getting the maximum NL200 6 max
Why open-limp from the CO? Especially with a hand that will hate most flops. Given that you did, the rest of the hand looks reasonable.
