Default XP SP2 Be careful !!

Due to some issues with the SP2 disabling applications ( read here http://tinyurl.com/68nyz), I recommend that you turn off automatic update in XP.

Go to start / control panel
select Automatic update icon
uncheck automatic update (recommended)
check notify me but do no not download.

There are problems with antivirus programs/quicken and probably conflicts with your own firewall.

I also suspect that some casino sites may become inaccessible.

Give it sometime before you download the upgrade until IT managers at work and other entites figure out the extent of the problems.

I've installed XP SP2 on three machines so far and haven't had any problems. I mostly play on Party and it's working as expected.

Not a recommendation to install it as such, just my personal experience.

can someone with more than one post confirm this?

also jaque, what will be the inevitable solution we are after? will there be a bug-free patch coming, or will we just be skipping this patch? i'm scared to skip it, but don't mind waiting for them to fix it first.

It's out today, and thank God you posted it.

From the millionth page I looked at.

INTRODUCTION
To help provide security for your Windows XP SP2-based computer, Windows Firewall blocks unsolicited connections to your computer. However, sometimes you might want to make an exception and permit someone to connect to your computer. For example, the following scenarios describe occasions when you might want someone to be able to connect to your computer:
You are playing a multiplayer game over the Internet.

I tried to get some kind of support, but basically it costs $245 for a phone call so I emailed them abuse instead.

How can these people get away with it?

If anyone can tell me how on earth I'm supposed to get an operating system that actually works and doesn't try to ruin my life every few months, I'd appreciate it.

I never wanted XP as '98 did everything without having to remove viruses every few months, so any tips on getting that back would help.

Thanks.

Lori
