$2-$4, 2 KJo hands and 3 others in need of help
Hand 1:
Had just sat down, no reads at all. Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (9 handed) Preflop: kem is SB with J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. 2 folds, MP1 calls, 2 folds, CO calls, 1 fold, kem completes, BB checks, Flop: (4 SB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (4 players) kem bets, BB calls, MP1 calls, CO folds. Turn: (3.50 BB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players) kem bets, BB calls, MP1 calls. River: (6.50 BB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players) kem bets, BB raises, MP1 folds, kem calls. Obviously I didn't like the river raise, but I have to call here. Final Pot: 10.50 BB Main Pot: 10.50 BB, between kem and BB. Hand 2: Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (10 handed) Preflop: kem is BB with J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. 2 folds, UTG+2 raises, 3 folds, CO calls, 1 fold, SB calls, kem calls, Is this a fold in the BB? I'm getting 7:1 here to see the flop, but KJo is not my favorite hand. Flop: (8 SB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players) SB checks, kem checks, UTG+2 bets, CO raises, SB folds, kem calls, UTG+2 folds. I called the raise strictly because I have K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. I also figured that my overcard outs are mostly good. Turn: (6.50 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) kem checks, CO bets, kem calls. Now I hit top pair, but could be drawing against a made flush. I decide to call it down. River: (8.50 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) kem checks, CO bets, kem calls. Final Pot: 10.50 BB Main Pot: 10.50 BB, between CO and kem. Hand 3: Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (10 handed) Preflop: kem is UTG+1 with 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. 1 fold, kem calls, 2 folds, MP2 calls, MP3 calls, CO calls, 2 folds, BB checks, Flop: (5.50 SB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (5 players) BB checks, kem bets, MP2 calls, MP3 calls, CO folds, BB folds. So I hit top pair here and bet it out (despite my kicker). No raises, so I figure I'm in decent shape. I figured anyone who had AJ would have raised pre-flop, so I'm likely facing another A and maybe a split pot. Turn: (4.25 BB) K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players) kem bets, MP2 calls, MP3 raises, kem folds, MP2 calls. With the raise here, I figure I'm up against two pair or worse. River: (9.25 BB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) MP2 checks, MP3 bets, MP2 calls. Final Pot: 11.25 BB Main Pot: 11.25 BB, between MP2 and MP3. Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (9 handed) Preflop: kem is CO with Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. 5 folds, kem raises, 1 fold, SB calls, 1 fold, Flop: (5 SB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) SB checks, kem bets, SB calls. So just the two of us, I miss the flop completely, but bet as a bluff with only my overcard outs. Turn: (3.50 BB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) SB checks, kem bets, SB calls. I bet again, he doesn't fold. River: (5.50 BB) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) SB checks, kem checks. I check behind him since I think I am beat. Final Pot: 5.50 BB Main Pot: 5.50 BB, between SB and kem. My read on UTG+2 is that he will not fold at all. On another hand he called me down with pocket 7's with a board showing KTT. Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (10 handed) Preflop: kem is UTG with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. MP3 posts a blind of $2. kem raises, 1 fold, UTG+2 calls, 7 folds, Flop: (6.50 SB) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) kem bets, UTG+2 raises, kem calls. I bet the flop trying to represent a big pocket pair (AA, KK, QQ). He raised here, making me think he has a jack. I figure I have 6 outs, although if he is on the flush draw maybe only 4. I call anyway. I probably played this one like a calling station, but the guy wouldn't fold a hand so I figured he had little or nothing. Big mistake? Turn: (5.25 BB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) kem checks, UTG+2 bets, kem calls. River: (7.25 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) kem checks, UTG+2 bets, kem calls. Final Pot: 9.25 BB Main Pot: 9.25 BB, between UTG+2 and kem. All comments are appreciated. I'll post results in a little bit. Thanks! |

Re: $2-$4, 2 KJo hands and 3 others in need of help
Hand 1: Fine.
Hand 2: I would take charge and bet out on the turn here, so the A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] doesn't get a free card and CO won't check the river if you are ahead and he is scared. Hand 3: Fold preflop. Hand 4: Fine. Hand 5: [ QUOTE ] bet the flop trying to represent a big pocket pair (AA, KK, QQ). He raised here, making me think he has a jack. I figure I have 6 outs, although if he is on the flush draw maybe only 4. I call anyway. I probably played this one like a calling station, but the guy wouldn't fold a hand so I figured he had little or nothing. Big mistake? Turn: (5.25 BB) 3 (2 players) kem checks, UTG+2 bets, kem calls. [/ QUOTE ] You contradict yourself here, since you don't have anywhere near the proper outs to draw. Fold the turn unimproved. Hand 3: Fold preflop. [/ QUOTE ] So what's the minimum Axs to play in EP? A5s? A6s? [ QUOTE ] You contradict yourself here, since you don't have anywhere near the proper outs to draw. Fold the turn unimproved. [/ QUOTE ] You're right.. I clearly wasn't thinking there. |

Re: $2-$4, 2 KJo hands and 3 others in need of help
hand 1/ raise preflop. rest is fine
hand 2: Fold preflop. take lead on turn. and bet river. hand 3/ generally speaking --- fold preflop. call down to that turn raise hand 4: well played hand 5: fold turn. you don't have odds to call. and King high isn't that good. I notice you folded top pair but called down twice with K high. odd |

Hero has KJo in the SB. There is no reason to raise. [/ QUOTE ] you got to figure he has the best hand. Sure there's likely an Ace out there but it'll fold by the turn if it misses. |

Personally, I think raising here is a bit LAG. It takes more than 2 paint cards for me to raise out of the SB. Haupt_234 |

Personally, I think raising here is a bit LAG. It takes more than 2 paint cards for me to raise out of the SB. [/ QUOTE ] I could be taking a concept I just learned too far, and I respect your opinion more than my own. However, I'm trying to think more for myself rather than blindly follow advice. Raising is correct here, in my view, because it's so easy to play. You are representing a high ace so if an ace hits the board you fire one out. If no one folds then you check fold the turn. If no ace hits then fire out two shots and check fold the river. Any Ace out there should fold by the turn. Not to mention BB folding and you could easily have best hand. |
