Ed Miller is ruining my preflop statistics
I have always played very tight preflop. Could never sustain the "Malmuthian" 15% rate, but for long periods I was averaging 18%.
Am trying to play the advice in SSH and now am seeing KJo, Q8s, 22 etc. YIKES! I'm at 25% for the last week. Will be trying the SSH advice in live games in Tunica for the next week. At least I won't get to hit the "See Your Statistics" button to see the % |

Re: Ed Miller is ruining my preflop statistics
I always thought that VP$IP was an accurate judge of a players "quality" as well as tightness. The top 3 winners in my poker tracker database are all over 30% and over 500 hands. This is at pp 15-30.

the winning players are getting better hands to start with and the better hands win more.

[/ QUOTE ] That doesn't make them winning players. It's fairly common to have several top winners in your DB have high VPIP. Because you have probably a couple of thousands of such players in your DB and they all play a lot of hands statistically a few of them would come out as big winners but the rest as even bigger losers. A very loose player who got lucky will be much higher on your list than a best player in the world who's playing tight. I suggest you take a look at the bottom of your database too and see that huge losers have the same stats as the big "winners". |

Re: Ed Miller is ruining my preflop statistics
Please note that your preflop percentage rate should be a little different depending on the type of table you are at!
I.E. Ed's book concentrates on loose games, while Mason probably plays a lot of tough/typical games being they are at a significantly higher level. |

Re: when i played ss
Advice = Do read the Miller book. SSH, or IT, or whatever you want to call it.
Excellent info. Not really just for "Small" stakes. Really directed at loose games with bad players - at any limit. |
