Default game is too loose

there is a low limit game at pacific that is very juicy
the ante is relatively huge $1 in a 2/4 game

every hand it seems there are 5 or more people at 7th st..they seem to chase anything(or even nothing)
i have gotten "premium hands" cracked time after time..aa, kk, qq
by the time i know im beat its too late...6th or seventh st

what advice can u give as far as starting hand requirements or general advice.
does the big ante make it a game not worth playing even though its juicy?..i seem to do better in a tight game with a low ante...even though my opponents are tougher..but i am determined to beat these loose players

please help(and back off of MY action...lol)

I have this problem too at the 1/2 and 2/4 at PS....sooooo frustrating when these idiots catch random crap and then think they know how to play when your K's up get beat by some trip 4's on the river. I dont think there is any solution except play at higher stakes. Unfortunately, as my name suggests, I am too poor for that!

i fear this solution...the one thing i keep telling myself is i am paying one dollar to see three cards, and these goofballs are paying 2 or more to see 4 cards. I feel like this gives me a big edge.
I will see 4th st alot more often than i would in a "better" structured game but still i refuse to chase crap.

If the ante were $10,000 per player and the betting was still 1-2, what starting hands would you play?

Exactly, somewhere between no ante and the absurdly high $10,000 ante, the game goes from a game of skill to a crapshoot in which the game is little more than deal out 7 cards and see who wins. Mason has written several essays about stud in which he states the higher antes in the bigger games level the playing field somewhat, handicapping the better players by making luck a bigger factor. It seems to me this $1 ante in a 2/4 game is close to eliminating the skill advantage of the good player. It certainly reduces it significantly.

why not, chasing crap is fun...

ok but seriously, i think in such a game as you're describing where almost everyone sees 4th street, you'll gain equity by folding on 4th and 5th when they don't, NOT when you fold on 3rd st

im not a stud expert by any means, just saying what i would do
