Default Poker gods kick me in the balls and spit in my face (some content)

2005 has been awful for me, the lastest of which has consisted of running horribly at canterbury this week (what an awesome way to spend my spring break!)

Decent 15/30 at canterbury. I've been playing 14 hours and am on my last hand of my last orbit.

I look down at aces utg. 4 people call, including pretty tight pretty passive player to my left(PTPP), and idiot on the button(IOTB).

Flop is a wonderful Q82r. I bet, PTPP raises, IOTB 3 bets, I 4 bet, PTPP caps, IOTB calls.

Turn is a 6 and completes the rainbow. I check, PTPP bets, IOTB calls, I fold.

Anyone care to guess the river

What do you think of my line?

"2005 has been awful for me"

Strike one.

"I've been playing 14 hours"

Strike two.

"I fold."

14:1 by my fuzzy math. If your table presence told you you only had two outs, who are we to criticize? But the 14 hours plus the 2005 has been awful for me, did they cloud your judgment?

"Anyone care to guess the river"

Strike three, I suppose but forget about it. We've all folded and seen our two-outer come in or seen the other guy call and have his two outer come in. Play shorter sessions and focus on making each decision the best one it can possibly be.

14 hrs of play and 2005 being awful had absoulutely nothing to do with the fold. I was just trying to give some backround to explain the title of the post...

I actually feel like this session was the very best poker I've ever played in my life. (I layed down multiple other overpairs for 1 bet on the turn and was correct every time)

14:1 is about right and that combined with the 99% positiveness that I only had 2 outs made it a rather easy fold.

I basically never ever let this stuff get to me but this was just TOO ironic considering how bad I've been running and how well I played throughout this session, including this hand.

OK, but it seems like I read frustration coming out in both your original post and your response to me. I saw the smiley face after "guess what card came on the river," but there's something in there that seems like it's getting to you. If I'm reading something into this that isn't there, fair enough.

This too shall pass.

A little frusteration, maybe. Just because I had been doing major damage control all night, (I was 0/8 with AA-QQ and only got to showdown twice). And so after making another good fold on my last hand it was pretty sickening to see my ace on the river.

Basically, exactly what Mike said

If you were 0/8 with AA-QQ maybe you should be showing down more hands. You ever think people may make plays at you because they think you are weak tight.

i dont like this line. it's -EV. way way oversimplified and overused. veteran posters need to be pushed to do more than state obvious things that give the poster no credit.

Veteran posters can ask questions, no? What does the title of his post mean?
