educate a liberal
What laws were recently passed by corrupt politicians to aid large corporations?
I've always thought these to be commonplace, however, other than the Bush tax cut and the Medicare bill, I can't think of any. |

This is either a wild exaggeration or you've been misguided. [/ QUOTE ] How about "no one has yet observed a polititian who is not an oppressor"? Government is essentially the negation of liberty. Those who are agents of government are complicit. In this case, it's more correct to say that "government" itself is corrupt, the polititians are technically not corrupt since they are behaving as they should in such a system - i.e. as oppressors. |

[/ QUOTE ] Oh well, let's just hijack this thread. I think we should leave room for the notion that not all government is, dare I say, oppressive? I'm going to go way out on a limb here and claim that by submitting to the authority of the state, said submission allows you (perhaps unknowingly) to lead a much freer life than if you didn't. Anyway, when you fully renounce your claims to all government protections, please let me know - I'll be over to your house soon to forcefully take it over; should you be there ready to defend it, let the battle begin. I have a feeling libertarians may not enjoy Locke's State of War as much as they might initially think. |

Pvn I dig some of your responses, but then you go and spoil it all by saying:

Re: educate a liberal
How about the god-damned energy bill? $11 billion in tax rebates to oil companies reporting record profits.
Transportation bill - more of the same. |
