Dell announced a 2560x1600 Giant LCD. Check the link:
Engadget link Should come in around $2K, in landscape mode it could easily support eight tables. No? |

if by "easily" you mean without overlap, then no.

Re: Dell 3007WFP 30\" monitor 2560 x 1600
I was under the impression that this monitor could handle 8 tables with no overlap (and 9 with little overlap)...is this not true? I was going to get it rather then 3 21 inch monitors specifically for this reason.
Thanks. |

Re: Dell 3007WFP 30\" monitor 2560 x 1600
unless you can put it in portrait mode, 2x800 = 1600, and 4x600 = 2400 so it would be fine. It would be really weird to use, but it would work, if it supports it.
I just hope it helps the price on the 2405 come down, I really want one but have not been able to justify the expense yet. If there is another dimension deal with one for less than 900 I will grab it, otherwise I wait. |

Think of it as 2 1600x1200 screens stacked on top of each other, with 160 extra pixels of height for a really big taskbar or something! Of course, if you can't do landscape on a $2000 monitor then somebody is fired. <-1600-> -------- /\ |-1--2-| 2 |-3--4-| 5 |-5--6-| 6 |-7--8-| 0 -------- \/ |

[/ QUOTE ] But it would probably be pretty awkward and hard on the neck to play that way. You could probably keep it in standard widescreen orientation and deal with some overlap on the tops and bottoms. Three rows of tables would take ~1800 height and you have 1600, so it wouldn't be too bad. |

[/ QUOTE ] I think you guys are getting the terminology wrong: Landscape is the traditional format for the monitor, the longer dimension on the horizontal; Portrait has the monitor turned 90 degrees, the longer dimension on the vertical. |
