Where\'s my Rock Goddess?
Inspired by the poster thread.
Since my shortpants infatuation with Joan Jett, I have yearned for a frontwoman / singer-songwriter that could be my all-time celebrity crush. It has been two decades of bitter disappointment since then. There are, as I see it, two distinct categories. Category A) Great musicians that aren't hot enough. Examples: Meg White Great rack, occasionally looks incredible from just the right angle, but can't quite put it all together. P.J. Harvey One of the greatest musicians of the 1990s, but.. well. Category B) Hot girls who aren't good enough musicians. Examples Fiona Apple That one video is like the hottest thing anybody's ever seen, right? But she just hasn't ever put out a truly first-rate album, and she doesn't exactly "rock." Liz Phair One great album. The rest of her career is a bit of a train wreck. Some might even argue that she's not hot enough, but [censored] all y'all. Can anybody do better, or is it strictly Category A or B, one or t'other? I love rock 'n' roll... |

Re: Where\'s my Rock Goddess?
Tori Amos seems to fit into all subcategories here bizarrely (as they are mutually exclusive!), for reasons I can't atriculate, even to myself.

Re: Where\'s my Rock Goddess?
I love Chrissy Hynde of The Pretenders. I think she's really talented and love the early Pretenders stuff, when they were on their first and second drug deaths. I saw an Esquire "Women We Love" pic on her, and they described my love for her pretty well -- she's the kind of totally real down home woman you know could utterly rock your socks off. Too bad she isn't prettier, or even pretty. She's like the one you never married and probably should have, but you didn't know sh*t back in those days.
By the way, what's with Meg White's hand in that picture? It looks friggin enormous, like it should be on Lurch or something. She looks like she could palm her whole head with it. |

Cat A: Kate Bush
As far as I'm concerned, aside from Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush is one of the greatest female musicians of all time (and the inspiration for other great female artisits as well) But, defintiely NOT HOT! I'm looking for a picture from the 70's to see if she was hot then. |
